Went for the first good ride of the season here in Halifax, it was gorgeous out so I had to get out of the house! 50km on the schlumpf 36, three hours, half a dozen peanut butter cookies. All in all, success!

I met again this morning with the reporter and film crew of national TV news magazine. We filmed for FIVE hours at Hummingbird trail in Simi Valley.
We all had a blast, got some awesome footage, and there's even a shot of me "helping" a 5 foot Rattler off the trail! Today was the second and last day the filming, which included 6 hours last weekend! Should be a really cool segment with tons of variety. Not sure when it will air but I'll let everyone know as soon as I know the date and times. I also have another TV segment already completed and awaiting word on the air dates. ![]() |

We shadowed the riders all the way on The Rev cycle ride, 55km, but were greeted by all the street and trials riders at the end, camera stuck in Sepia mode.

First ride in months. Bought some new gloves on the way to the trail, not sure how many rides they'll last

Today I took my new 36er out on a bike trail I have been bike riding on for the past 5+ years. May have ridden this trail 200 times, never seen a uni on it and the first time I ride my uni on it I run into a gentleman named Rex riding his 29er. Here he is trying out my new ride. My 5th day on my 36er, and I did 15 miles. Totally stoked about the ride and meeting a fellow rider.

I've gone through gloves of all the "big" names over the years and I've found that basic Novara-brand gloves from REI outlast them all and at much lower prices.

Stupidity gets you 2 of these:
|
I wear ~ $9 slim fitting garden or work gloves w/ a skate wrist brace loosely over that.
Once I used these and took a permanant marker to the pink (my hands are a bit small so I usually take a Men's S/M or woman's large). I can't really hold SIF w/ the brace thogh and the glove has vertually no padding, but I've scraped the hell out of them and holding together great. I bet I could get at least 2 yrs out of a pair (I loose things easily so they last about a year before one, usually the right disapears). I've also used both of these. The leather ones last forever but grip isn't that great for SIF. The "Mechanics" have really good grip.

A couple of us met a local reporter, Jason Shackelford, at the local trail. We had a blast filming. Jason can actually ride. He practiced the prior week to get ready for the roughness of the trail. The weather was great.
