This is no safety issue, if shifting is working fine.

In my last mail i explaining my problem with a picture.
But no reply on that one.
But, just to be sure -- It could be a different problem -- in mine, the side-to-side play was because of the bearings. Send me pictures if you have them. corbin at corbinstreehouse dot com.
