Today as I passed a couple, the guy put his thumb out with the hitch-hiking gesture.
(Boy, what flashes through one's head, thinking of two old guys riding a 36" wheel together.... It's not pretty.) I told him, I could find room for her, but your out of luck. (My best spontaneous reply yet).
