She generates more tourist capital than just about anything else in this country. Her role is mainly as an ambassador for the country, but she can of course refuse and government that is voted in to parliament if she wishes. Think of her as insurance that the BNP will never gain power.

Tobbogonist: If you're going to pluralise state in that context you wouldn't use an apostrophe!

Apostrophe's denote a contraction or ownership. In your context it's just a simple pluralisation.

But, in that context anyway just 'Head of State' without the s is correct. Her title is Head of State in each of those countries, not Head of States in each of those countries.

Also, are the Aussies planning on chucking out my beloved queen?? For shame! Whatever happened to 'My fellow Australians'?

i was not pluralising to be gramaticly correct in that context.

i was refering to her owning the dolphins, which would make them the queens dolphins'

there her states's (although some people would argue otherwise) she is head of state's

i have to thank meastro for succesfully teaching me the apostrophe with that irritating flower cartoon.

As for 'ousting' the Queen. Quite a few Australians are all for getting rid of her. Quite frankly i dont mind, as long as she keeps her mits of our dolphins, there great for tourism.

mmm the queens guards, i have always imagined the outrageous headgear they wear would make the best pillow. Or cleaning utensil for the bathroom. Although she does have to get with the times, its all about being neither seen nor heard in security these days. a few hidden cameras and the odd royal ninja maybe?

how do they tell the difference between an attacker and a regular joe tugging there moustache for a laugh?
