Massive flooding in aus

There has been almost non stop rain here in southeastern Queensland
so far 10 people have died in the floods

The waters are now making their way into the swollen Wivenhoe Dam, where managers must release them, despite downstream effects, due to enormous, ongoing inflows.

Flood forecasts have been revised upwards for Brisbane and Ipswich, now both expecting flood peaks beyond the levels seen during the catastrophic 1974 floods.

Ms Bligh said almost 40,000 properties were expected to experience flooding in Brisbane in coming days.

"We would expect to see 9,000 properties affected significantly by this water level and more than 30,000 other properties having some impact," she said.

Ipswich is also braced for a record peak, possibly up to 2 metres above the 1974 level. That will flood up to 3,000 properties.
admittedly this photo is on the edge of a river, but those hand rails were normal about 2-3 meters above water atleast

news report

its gunna get worse before it gets better
