Echo 2011... another product

This is for the muni riders... The lever blade should be a lot more friendly and ergonomic than the 2011 Maguras and previous Echos and Maguras.







Description all on Tartybikes, and whilst it is expensive there's a good reason since its slave cylinders are CNC'd instead of cast forged like the Magura slaves. These are again lower profile and further updated against leaking issues which earlier Echo brakes once had. If you read the features of the Echo slave cylinders you'll see why they are specced as 'superior' to Magura ones. Same goes for the lever.

If you can afford it, go for it. Any brake is better than the 2005 Maguras (design fault on lever body just for starters...) and these new Echos sit at the top of the mountain now for hydro rim brakes.

- New for 2011, the Echo SL Rim Brake.
- 'Flippable' lever design means it can be used for either the right or left hand.
- Fully CNC machined.
- Full 2014 construction offers strength and quality never seen before on rim brakes.
- TPA adjuster hidden neatly behind the lever blade, which also allows easy 'on the fly' adjustment.
- Pinned titanium lever blade pivot is held in place by a grub screw: much neater than other current rim brake systems, and prevents it from coming loose by itself! We recommend using threadlock on this grub screw to ensure it does not work loose.
- The lever pin runs on two nylon bushings, minimising the amount of 'wobble' and giving smooth running performance for years.
- Drilled out lever blade saves weight, and improves grip.
- Supplied fully bled and also includes colour-matched Echo brake pads (brake clamps not included).
- Light/thin German mineral oil and German sealing (both lip seal to keep out dirt and standard O-ring oil seal) take care of the internals.
- Main hose construction is plastic, with a kevlar reinforced centre, making it much tougher than standard plastic hose.
- Hose attaches to the lever right against the handlebars (see additional picture), meaning its almost impossible to hit the hose at this position!
- Uses full Stainless Steel M6 press-in barbed fittings and grub screws throughout.
- Smaller brake cylinders offer better crank and heel clearance, and are also lighter!
- Thicker and shorter 'pin' on the slave cylinders offer two advantages: they are stiffer and stronger, and they also have less chance of scraping against your rim when the brake pads have worn down.
- Much higher tolerances (than other cast brakes) on this part of the system hold your brake pads more securely, reducing wear on the lip features of the backings, and also reducing the rounding-off of brake pads (and in turn increasing performance).
- Larger clamping region on the cylinders offers a better range of adjustment than similar hydraulic rim brakes.
- Weight: 175g each (Rear, without brake clamps).

- New for 2010, Echo's super minimal "flip-flop" SL brake lever.
- Packed with lots of clever weight saving ideas while keeping high performance a priority.
- Flip-Flop design means it can be run on both left and right hand sides.
- Custom 14mm piston is the same size as standard HS33 brakes.
- New updated TPA adjuster is easy to adjust and ideally positioned behind the blade.
- Titanium bleed and lever clamp bolts.
- Lever blade design ensures it will provide 14% more power than a standard HS33 2-finger blade.
- Drilled out lever blade is very light weight and features a reach adjuster.
- New piston bore design ensures the lever is much easier to bleed than previous models.

shiny new products are nice, but I'm still searching for a cheap Magura to V-brake adaptor (because 35 bucks is bogus for little brackets) so I can get a brake for a reasonable price . . .

I'm not using one but I'd imagine they're very trustworthy by 2011. Only one way to find out. Worst comes to worst, there's a warranty and seals can be replaced.

On paper, this brake is much much better than the Maguras.
