Idea for learning skinny riding
I was thinking of getting a 10 foot piece of 1.5 or 2 inch PVC pipe and having it cut in two length wise.. This would give me a chance to ride skinny without being 4 feet off the ground..
Feasible idea? Any other ideas? I just want to learn so that if I am out on the Muni and have to negotiate along a down tree, I can.. NOT about to pull a Kris Holm bridge riding thing!

just get like four 10' 2x6's and some strong wood screws and drill em together into a square. so then you can even practice turns.
or 2x4's, whatever. Last edited by DSchmitt; 2010-06-08 at 03:13 AM. |

not being able to edit only 10 mins after posting is a joke.
just get like four 10' 2x6's and some strong wood screws and drill em together into a square. so then you can even practice turns. or 2x4's, whatever. and then you can add whatever you want on the top. i wouldn't recommend pvc pipe, i've never used it because i think it'll break. i have 2x6s, just on saw horses for height..one has a metal fence pole screwed on top. 2 others have 2x2s drilled on so it's diamond shaped. sand one edge of the 2x2 so it will sit on the 2x6, then put a few screws in. my other 2 skinnies have wooden dowels screwed on (by far the most expensive...) 2x2s or metal pole is the best. my neighbor had some metal pole layin around. an 8 foot section of non pressure treated 2x2 is only 2$ though(home depot), and that makes for a really pointy skinny... another option is a 4x4 for a really pointy skinny. make something (you can probably make some ghetto crap from wood laying around the house) for the 4x4 to sit in diagonally , like this. i wouldn't worry about strapping it down since it wont be high. the most challenging, most slippery is metal pole tho. you can get fencing for about $8-10 for a 8-10 foot section at home depot. |
