Pictures of your latest ride
Okay, I'll start
Share a picture or two of your and/or your uni on a ride. State where the picture was taken, route details etc. Heres my Coker this morning, at Longsands beach, Tynemouth. It was a beautiful morning, I made the most of it and got out for a 10 mile ride along Whitley Bay/Tynemouth seafront, which is part of a 16mile circular I ride regularly. ![]() I look forward to seeing more pics. Joe,

I know that I am, strictly speaking, playing hockey in this pic. But we had been riding down the prom earlier on. Honest.

Here I am twenty minutes ago throwing my nimbus 36 into the lake after 20 failed attempts to freemount (127 mm cranks).

You mean James Thurber of course. Thank you very much. My success rate didn't improve so I bought a 29er. It is much lighter than the 36er and can be tossed even further out into the lake.

Le monocycle de bosses
I came across this bumpy clandestine (bmx?) track in a local park. About 20 bumps in succession. Quite a challenge to ride with no dismount. Any idea what this kind of track is called?

It's called a pump track, it's for bmx style riding as well as dirt jumpers but you can use any kind of bike on it.

Chester Bikeathon
I rode the Chester Bikeathon with my family today. It was very windy.
(I've included the photo of Sam on his bike to try to give an indication of how windy it was - he had to lean into the side wind to avoid being blown over)

Here's a pic from my ride late today, in the Wombat State Forest (Victoria, Australia). Our house is just on one edge of the forest which works out great for regular muni/cross country adventures. The forest is pretty big all up, about 70 000ha I think, and contains lots of dirt tracks of all shapes and sizes, lots of hills too.
My favorite uni atm for forest rides is the 29" with 150mm cranks, not fast on flats but awesome in the hills. I don't especially like the Klaw tire in the wetter winter conditions in the forest atm, though I can only compare it to the feel of 3.0 tire on my 24" which I love to bits so have ordered a Rampage 2.35 and Mountain King 2.4 for the 29. I don't know where the track in the pic ends up yet, it begins about an hour or so from home and I've only ridden a few km's down it, but I'm hoping it will end up part of a nice long forest loop. I met some (moto) trail bike riders on this stretch of track over the weekend - it was hard to tell if the look on their faces was amazement, pity or just 'man you are NUTS' ![]() Last edited by lunicycle; 2008-06-23 at 10:47 AM. |
