Hey Dave (speeding content inside)

So I've gotten not one, but TWO speeding tickets this month.

Both out of state, where I was traveling the same speed as the cars around me. I honestly believe that I was targeted both times due to my out of state liscense plate. This makes it difficult for me to fight the tickets, and it means that the cops are bringing in money from outside the state.

I'm going to plead not-guilty to both, and then apply for extensions on my court dates untill the charges are (hopefully) dropped (it's worked before).

Also, the ticket I got in VT (a speed trap 10 miles from the MA border, resulting in a revolving door of people getting tickets), endded with my car battery dying, and me getting stuck on the side of the highway while the cop drove off. I think this might be illeagle on his part (I'm going to look into this right now, actually). It took me two hours to flag down another cop, despite the two of them that were working the speed trap in tandem driving by me a dozen times over that time frame. That cop then called AAA for me, and drove off as well.

Despite all this, my insurance just dropped by several hundred dollars a year, because I turned 24. Booyah! I'm hoping that because the tickets were out of state, it doesn't go back up.

LOL, my name is in the thread title.

Well, I can't fault you for keeping up with traffic. It certainly is safer. But then again, if I applied that thinking to everyone who speeds, I wouldn't have anyone to be pissed off at (well, except for the tailgaters and the people who pass on the right and the people who don't use their turn signal).

On a related note, what do the parents here advise their kids to do -- keep up with traffic (be safe) or not speed (be legal)? Bruce?

Good luck fighting the tickets. If they have a speed trap (which to me is a very good thing), they should at least be fair about it.

I always told them that everything they saw should be in their rear view mirror as soon as possible.
