I had an Apple ][ back then. The Commie users were always feeling superior for some reason.

I was bought a Sinclair ZX Spectrum in 1983 with a massive 48k RAM. The cheapest and least capable of the bunch; 8 colours, one channel beeper and no hardware sprites. Not to mention the dreaded attribute clash...

I still have it, and I also still have my ZX Spectrum +2, my Amiga 500 and my Amiga 1200.

OK, if this is a competition, my first machine was a 1Kb ZX81, bought in component form as a kit.

Now, who had a ZX80, or an Acorn Atom... or something with valves... or a Babbage Engine...?

I actually have an Acorn Atom (12K plus an additional 4 or 5 K soldered in to the memory map gaps) , also an Electron with plus 1 , and a Model B BBC micro with 5 1/4 floppy disk drives!
A couple of ZX80s and an 81.
Someone at work was throwing them out, so I offered to house them. I had to buy him coffee for a week in exchange though.

Don't have anything with valves, but I do have a manual 80 column card punch machine, holding current pride of place in my little collection.

The model B still works ( I played Elite and Seaventure ), not tried the other machines recently.

Harper had to power his first car by running in his bare feet through a hole in the floor, does that count?

I had a COSMAC ELF kit computer that had 256 bytes of RAM, and no keyboard or monitor. You had to enter in machine code with a keypad and toggle switches.

I had a spectrum 386 and a ZX spectrum +2 (James bond edition ftw!).
Also had an Atari 520st, Atari 1040st and a commador 64 that i swapped for a fish tank.

And somewhere i still have a Grandstand. Dont know what the model name was just remember it has paddles that turn for playing the likes of pong. Think thats in the loft still in its box.

Got a Commodore 64 in 84, cost a thousand NZ... Later my son used to play with it when it was obsolete. He now works in an orchard or something in SanFransisco.
Never learnt to do more than write simple bash scripts myself.
