Community Map for Unicyclists/Extreme sports fans

I've just been having a conversation with a friend about a community based gaming map/locator idea he has and think that this idea could work very well for Unicycling and other extreme sports.

I'm sure this has been talked about before and possibly implemented somewhere at some point.

The idea being that you have a map of the world split up into areas, you can zoom in on specific areas and find people who have same sporting (unicycling) interests as you do and communicate with individual (or groups) members. Possibly you can have photos/videos of the sports in your area so that if you're going to visit another place you can see what is there to do for your sport (parks, session spots etc) and who you could possibly contact and meet up with to enjoy those places.

The idea being if for some odd reason you were visiting Cumbria, or Workington where I live you would find me, possibly my unicycle blog and pictures and videos that I have of the area.

Comments appreciated.

We have this:
http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/VBGooglemap.php

There is also the list of unicyclists (I forget the link)

I am developing a website right now for unicyclists to do some of the other things you listed and much more (well its been a while in the making, I am just really slow and lazy since I do web programming at work and don't feel like doing it when I get home).
