Gallery of Beautiful Original Photos

Couldn't find anywhere else to put this so we now have yet another "Gallery Of" thread.

Ben has a special friend named Courtney who is a budding artist and developing photographer (sorry for the puns ). The other day when the ice storms when through our area, she took the attached photo outside her house.

We love the beauty of the flower with the touch of rustic in the chain all wrapped up in the amazement of nature. Mary says that a person needs to have a special eye for that sort of thing, which we don’t, in order to find the exquisite beauty in photo subjects. All Mary and I can do is learn from others ideas, so I suggested that I bring in the old rusty chain I have in the garage to decorate our home. Mary didn’t think much of my idea.

That's beautiful!
I have a good friend who's a starving artist based out of SanFran and she does some photos. They're pretty awesome.

I nearly choked on my beer, reading this post.

Harper, your vanity is beyond compare.

Wow, was that first shot just taken as-is, with no doctoring? I'm amazed that a flower would stay so colorful after being frozen like that. It almost looks like a plastic flower, only it appears to be real.

Having "the eye" is one thing, but spotting that little explosion of color among all the ice wouldn't be too hard. Taking really cool shots isn't very hard, just take tons of 'em. The hard part is knowing which are the "good" ones, from an art standpoint...

Here are some of my own freezing rain pictures, from a storm on Long Island in 1994.

Here are some pictures, all taken in our (recently remodeled) master bathroom for a Photoshop class. Some stuff can look really cool when you get really really close to it!

Speaking of close, how about this new memory chip from Intel, on Jacquie's finger? Yes, a paying photography job!

When I was visiting the Royal Ontario Museum last week, my digital camera went a bit nuts. It was fine to start off with, but by the time I shot these pictures of suits of armour, things were definitely going wrong somewhere.

Still, I quite like the effect.
I wish I knew what I did so I could do it again.

I could easily be wrong, but it looks to me like a result of a long exposure due to the general darkness of the subject, flash not active, and you not keeping the camera still.

I got a similar effect when I took some nighttims photos. I'm pretty sure that it is, as Naomi said, because of the darkness and camera movement.
(I think the squiggles are meant to be a street light, and you can vaguely see the sky and silhouetted houses in the background)

And i'm going to double post so that my picture get's shown...
I just love the atmosphere created by the glare of the street light, combined with the perspective of the alley.
