The Ultimate Coffee Thread

I don't see a thread specifically dedicated to the world's finest beverage, and since I'm having a fine cup of brew this morning, I thought I'd hit you all up for comments.

My sister, Rhonda, brought me back a bag of organic Guatemalan coffee from her adoption trip to Guatemala and I brewed some of it for the first time this morning. It is one fine cup of coffee, especially when accompanied by a chocolate fudge Pop Tart. I love good coffee, strong and black. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house and Mary laughs at me because I tell her that drinking a cup of fine coffee is nothing short of a full body experience. It's good from head to toes. Matter of fact, I think when I die, just grind me up and bury me in a coffee can.

Whoops, my cup's empty. I'd better head to the break room.

Bruce

I drink Folgers instant coffee with lots of milk and no sweetener. When I'm out I prefer Dunkin Donuts coffee.

I don't like strong coffees, flavored coffees, or coffees that cost more than a gallon of gas.

I'll side with JJuggle here... paying any more than a buck for a cuppa joe is like paying more than two dollars for a bottle of wine. At this point your taste buds have become more sophisticated than the rest of you.

Why not spend the extra dollars buying real Spam instead of the generic equivalent, eh yoopers? ...and you said you couldn't afford the real Spam!

I take my industrial coffee (brewed in our break room by the gallon) with a packet of hot chocolate mix. No sugar or cream necessary. It tastes like the chocolate has been run through a musty old sock but it gives me the "kick" to stay awake through my 9 AM meetings.

Good idea for a thread!

I have to drink decaf now. When I was in grad school I was drinking a couple pots a day so I think I've had my lifetime's share of caffeine.

Nowadays the decaf can taste pretty good. I like it black and hot. I can't stand cold coffee!

One of my pet peeves is wasting water by letting the water run unnecessarily while brushing one's teeth. So one day, I gently (always) asked my lovely wife why she had to let the water run when she didn't need it running, then ducked quickly. To which she responded that her teeth were sensitive to cold water and running it until it was warm enough to rinse her mouth was one luxury she afforded herself. Now I offer to get up at 3:00 a.m. to turn on the warm water for her just to make sure it's sufficiently warm when she gets up at 5:30.

Buying a good cup of coffee is one luxury I afford myself. It also helps me feel like I didn't waste all those years in college and can actually afford the finer things in life. But since I really can't afford them, a $1.50 cup of coffee is my spending limit.

Now you're talkin'. Who needs taste or sophistication when we have Mad Dog on the market?

Chocolate fudge Pop Tart? Yum. Coffee (in any flavor or variation)? Ick. That leaves more for the rest of you. I am safe from the threat of Starbucks...
