I cut people's grass when I was a kid, and like you, I had a paper route. In high school I had a part-time job that gave me some nice spending money. I used that money to buy hockey equipment and go to hockey camp.

Possible suggestions:
get an additional job
sell stuff you don't need on eBay or car boot sale
get sponsorship from a family member
get an advance on Christmas or Birthday money
write an article for a newspaper or magazine if they will pay
buy a cheaper Muni then upgrade later
share the cost (& the Muni) with a friend (get another later)
do some busking or begging in the street
go to a uni meet & steal one
or just enjoy the anticipation

This is my favourite...I use it all the time, but Mrs Sofa always gets me something for those days anyways

Realistically, I should be 358 with all the 'birthday advances' I've gotten

OK, I went to your review to make fun of you some more, but I see you came out on your own.

Congrats on accepting your fate.

I also have that exact problem. But on a slightly higher scale.
Okay, I want a MUni, but first I have to save $600 to go to Toronto in August for the Rubiks Cube world championships, and my best Rubiks Cube just broke so I have to buy a new one and a good cube costs about 10 dollars plus 8 for shipping and handling because it comes from Hungary because all the ones in America are just simple ones that break at the slightest touch, and so once I get my new cube I need to oil it but I'm out of silicone spray which costs only 5 bucks so that's not much to worry about, and I also need to get a 24 inch Uni (actually, I would prefer a Coker) so once I get either a 24 inch Uni or a Coker to ride to school because Mountain Tires aren't good on asphalt or pavement, and then I need to get this Magic Video because I'm a magician.
All in all, it'll only cost around a billion dollars.

but I'm also a paper delivererer, and I get about $80/month. And that is obviously not enough. It's just enough to get to the World Championship because it's in August. So by the time I almost have the money, It will be Christmas and I won't need it!
But what I do is play the lottery every once in a while. Just in case.

Ah, a rubik's cube person! Try this:

http://www.superliminal.com/cube/cube.htm

A 4D rubik's cube. I can't do the normal one; I'm not going to even try this one...

Random link no. 2: lego cube solver!

http://jpbrown.i8.com/cubesolver.html

Most impressive indeed.

Good luck with everyone's bank rob^H^H^H^H money making schemes!

I've tried the 4 dimensional one before. It's reeaally hard. And I've seen the Rubiks Cube robot thing, but it wasn't made of legos. This is the one I found: http://www.lti.pcs.usp.br/~rbianchi/...ubik_cube.html
It looks more impressive, if you ask me.

That's more hardcore, but I still prefer the lego one. I mean... lego! It's great stuff. But then, I am biased.

Yeah, legos are cooler. But the other one is more professional looking. They both have their own pros and cons.

I don't know what kind of financial shape your parents are in, but maybe you could work out a loan from them. I think if you gave them a serious proposal on how you would pay it back they may be willing to be your bank. Of course this may not the best lesson to learn. Make the money and pay cash, living with debt isn't nearly as satisfying as owning it when you get it.

... or re-set your sights. Unicycle.uk.com do the from 60 odd quid and my Nimus II was £140 so why spend so much?

Having the flashest bike er uni doesn't make you any better, just nice to have. Take your time. You're learning a vital lesson here me thinks.
