I also live in Cary and I'm kinda looking for a mentor of sorts. To give some background: a unicycle was my primary mode of transport while attending NCSU... but that was 10 years ago. Now I find myself trying to get back into it. I've logged about 50 miles over the past 5 weeks, trying to get my legs back in shape after all that time off.
My primary intended use of a unicycle is for touring. Just going down some of the nice, long greenways in our area - nothing off-road, not interested in doing tricks. I've got a 24" unicycle, so I'd likely just slow you down, but I'd also like to finally learn to idle and go backward.
Any recommendations on trails? The greenway near my house has a lot of hills, though they haven't been giving me too much trouble here lately. Shelly lake is nice, but not very convenient, it's a good clip from Cary. Lake Crabtree has a flat trail that I believe is close to 5 miles round trip if you start from Dynasty. Any others?
Hey, I'd be down for a morning 36'r ride. Sunday morning is the only time I'll be able to do it, 7 am work for me. I've only had my 36'r for about a month now, the longest I've ridden so far has been about 8-9 miles but I'm comfortable doing more. Wanna go ride Sunday morning? I don't know the area, so I'll let you pick a route.
