I'm putting together a new 29er, and I was planning on getting a KH XC rim. I started to think about doing it up as a lightweight build so the single walled Nimbus rim came to mind. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can buy just the rim anymore.

So. Send me a pm if you've upgraded, and don't know what to do with your Nimbus 29 rim (red or blue). We just might find a happy home for your old hoop.

Has anyone toured through the country, maybe into Germany? Do you have any tips or general information to share? I have a whole year to collect information so anything helps. Good routes? We want to spend some time with the culture, and would prefer some routes that are kind of flat. Thank you.

Hi all,

So, i've been messing around with my Qu-Ax profi 20" for a couple months now. Not doing that great but i can manage to do 100 foot rides regularly. My turning is rather bad and wobbly but i know that much of that is due to lack of practice.

Long story short, i am about to take the leap and go for uni #2. I have debated amongst myself for some time (read the 24 vs 26 threads over and over again) and decided to go the 26" way (after having decided to go the 24", and then the 26", and over and over again....).

I will be using it for street/pavement/small drops/steps etc, and ofcourse muni (mostly XC stuff, nothing too extreme).

I am between the Nimbus and the Qu-Ax Muni. My heart is probably leaning towards the Nimbus (i have read only good reviews on it) but the Qu-Ax is cheaper (i'll save around 70 euros that way) and am wondering if the Nimbus is really worth the extra price tag. Maybe 70 euros is not a fortune but still that means the Qu-Ax is almost 20% cheaper, which is not bad.

Thing is, i haven't found any real reviews for the Qu-Ax. Anyone want to share their 2 cents???

Cheers

Alex

P.S. i am 6.2" and weigh almost 80 kg.

i know there's a million of these out there, i've seen some of the other posts so i'll try to be as specific as i can right off the bat.

first off the unicycle i'm looking at is a Sun 24" Flat Top Street Unicycle. i've never ridden before. i'm planning on just riding around with it i highly doubt i'll ever get around to doing trials. i figured the 24" would be small enough to give me some control while also being large enough to not be a pain to get around on.

what do you say? i'm very open to suggestions.

I'm trying to find a used 12-inch unicycle for my daughter to learn on. I've tried a 16-incher, with the seat as low as it can go, and I also taped about an inch of cardboard onto the each side of the pedals to make them thicker, but her feet still can't quite reach. Yes, she is very SHORT for her age.

So I'm in the market for a used 12-incher. The cheapest I've found is a new Sun on ebay for $80 shipped; Unicycle.com has a Hopley for about $85 shipped.

I'm hoping to get something for around $40 shipped, if anyone has a 12-incher they're ready to part with.

Thanks

I passed a bunch of skunks this morning. They were in the weeds right on the side of the trail. I came less than 3 feet from 5 or more skunks that...

I passed a bunch of skunks this morning. They were in the weeds right on the side of the trail. I came less than 3 feet from 5 or more skunks that ranged in age from young adults to babies. One young adult had his tail up, but facing away from me.

I'm wondering how lucky I am to not have been sprayed. Does anyone know much about skunks?

Here is some more detail: I've been riding at a park called Bayfront Park on the San Francisco Bay peninsula (in Menlo Park). The park is right on the Bay, surrounded by I don't know how many millions of people. In other words, there are always a bunch of people at this park. In the past month or so, the grass/weeds have grown very tall. The open fields from two months ago are now covered with grass that is roughly 3 feet tall. Must be the perfect place for skunks to rummage around.

It was about 8 AM, so I figured the skunks were all asleep. Plus there were other people riding, walking, running. So, I figured it was safe. I was on a trail that was 3-5 feet wide and had thick grass on each side. Out of the corner of my eye I could see that I was passing something black and white (just in the weeds, only inches from the trail). So, I looked down and was literally passing within 2 or 3 feet of a young skunk with his tail up, but not facing me. Man, I felt lucky. I rode on for another 30 to 50 feet and then passed 3 to 5 (or more) skunks just in the weeds on the side of the trail. Some were babies. None of these skunks had their tails up.

OK, this made me wonder. Are the skunks not threatened by humans passing them in this park? I'm surprised that they did not spray me when I was that close (for a moment I felt surrounded by skunks). I wonder if they won’t spray me unless I provoke them, or fall off my unicycle right in front of them, rather than pass by quickly.

I figure that I won't go back to this park for a few months. I'll wait for the grass to die down. But, that's a bummer. I really like riding at this park!

Are there any skunk "experts" out there who can comment on whether or not I should press my luck?
