ok, we have 1mm spacers for the rotor, are you seeking 1mm spacers for the crank? I think you said you were using 6mm crank spacers right? if you just got the rotor not to rub and you move the crank out further, then you'll have to readjust the caliper to rub on the crank again. How many 1mm spacers do you have between the crank and rotor... if the caliper is that close to the crank, I'm assuming none. The rotor may have been beat during shipping, but I suspect the crank spider wasn't intended for disc tolerances, and the rotor may be adjusted to true with one more or less spacer on each finger of the spider. We have even encountered some chain ring holes on the spider that were off center from the spindle and deviated the rotor up/down. I think the ultimate solution will be a MountainUni Crank arm... Prototyping soon!
Hey, some feedback....
Ok, I finally got the UCM on my 36-er, it fits great and as soon as I get a rotor that's not tweaked, I'll be able to better test it
One thing about the whole system, you may want to find a source for 1mm crank spacers in the form of washers or something. I finally have my set up dialed in where there is no disc rub but the tolerances are so close that the crank is rubbing ever-so-slightly on the caliper. I plan on just grinding the crank down a little bit. It won't make them weak, I think this could have been remedied if we had a 1mm washer that fit into the system. What do you think?
Yup....have been laying low, playing with my 24" and 26" conundrum frames with LM rims. I have the Larry tire on the 26" and love it. I am going to wait for a solid option that I can use with my current Muni's..... if one ever becomes available. I don't do enough distance to justify getting a 36-er set-up with a disk. I mostly do Muni anyway
hey dude, how's life? seems like you haven't posted in a while... I had a couple months off the threads too. did you get the impulse, or were you waiting for other disk brakes to become available? looks like we'll have something in a few weeks... already sold out of 155 isis Sinz cranks, but will restock soon. Should have some left over after sending a bunch to Triton Unicycles for their line of 36ers. just wanted to keep you posted.
