New Pedal Suggestion's!

Today I switched out the Wellgo LU-214 City Pedals I was using and put some pedals on with pegs that came off my mountain bike, and what a difference it made in my confidence. i'm sure all you seasoned riders saw that one coming! but I grew up in the day when Uni's came with bike pedals, and when I started riding again the modern day pedals just felt weird to me, cause i couldn't move my foot around, i now see why they changed them over the years! i have more bite now, i soon found out that I have more pedal power, cause I was worried that my foot was going to slip off the pedal. i had the longest and most confident ride to date this morning! I guess this old uni rider needs time to adjust to how things are done now.. if any of you have any suggestion's of a good pedal to use, let me know! for now i'm just riding around the neighborhood and the park, nothing crazy, cause i'm still getting use to riding after 40 years! I don't know anything about pedals, but I thought I would say "hi" anyway. I noticed you joined the forum with zero posts for a few weeks. Now that you are posting, you will probably get more response from the wonderfully friendly forum participants. This is the friendliest, most helpful group of people ever.

No doubt, someone who knows "peddles" will come along with an answer.

I personally really like Odyssey Twisted Pc Pedals. They are plastic pedals with molded pins, so they are nice and grippy but not too hard on the shins in the event of a pedal bite. I wrote a review on them here: http://unitips.ca/?p=155

Thank you 57UniRider, i've been busy reading all the great information out here on the forums since I joined up, even been following your progress as well. I also saw your post about "friends" and what is the best choice of befriending someone, i didn't know either what to do, but i'm sure it cant hurt to have friends out there, especially in our age group.

Following various advice on here, they're what I got to replace the stock pedals on my cheap beginners uni, which were small and slippy in comparison to the Twisteds. Wish I'd done it sooner. Worth pointing out that my bloody shins are testament to the fact they do still eat your shins, but I guess metal ones would be rather worse.

I suppose it's all relative. I've had some really bad pedal bites with the Twisted Pcs, but they could have been hospital trips if I were using aggressive metal pedals.

Those Black-Ops Gummys are nice looking pedal's.. I notice a lot of you use plastic pedals.. I just thought they wouldn't be strong enough for someone my size, but since all my riding is on the street just crusing around, maybe they would work just fine for me! I must say I like the looks of the plastic one's and all the colors they have.....

If you don't wear leg armor (it's hot down here) , pc pedals leave scratches in your leg about 1/3 as deep as a metal pinned pedal. Some riders complain that the pins wear fast if you do a lot of pedal grabs on rocks. Maybe so, but at 10 ish $, it is a real nice, light and generally reliable pedal. Try some before you buy a metal pedal that costs many times more. If you don't like it, you will be in the minority, and only out 10 ish $. 15 $ tops for your favorite color.
