DARTMOOR PROTEST - BOVEY TRACEY - 2.00PM SUNDAY 23RD AUGUST.

Hi All,

Many of you may have picked up the fact that a major media event is being held
on Dartmoor to protest against the new bylaws which are making normal cyclists
into criminals. Around 100 cyclists are expected to attend - and the format of
the day is attached.

We have had an excellent response for the television companies who are highly
amused that the bylaws have forgotten the existance of unicycles!

We are therefore desperate for a willing unicycle rider (or 2) to appear over
the skyline and descend the hill to the waiting cameras at the protest site.

If any unicyclists would be prepared to help, the CTC will be pleased assist
travel by paying rail or petrol expences.

Contact Colin Palmer on the above e mail address, or phone 01531 633500.

Thanks in anticipation

Colin Palmer CTC Offroad.

CTC Dartmoor Day of Action. Sunday 23rd August 1998

The day has been organised to cater for all cycling tastes and abilities, and
will consist of four late morning rides, all of which will converge at
2.00pm at the protest site.

All rides will use legal routes, with cyclists supporting a symbolic trespass
by CTC Councillors for the benefit of the media. The site of the trespass
will known only to invited media and the ride leaders. Participants will be
led to the site.

Please note that all the rides leaving Bovey Tracey will involve a climb of in
excess of 1000ft onto the high moor.

Those wishing to avoid this climb should join the family group which will start
from Manaton and have a climb of around 300ft. Cyclists without cars should go
direct to Manaton, but those using the car are requested to report at the
assembly area before departing for Manaton.

Please bring enough food and drink to support you during the day.
