I have my camera wich is really good, but only if I dont edit my footage. I know it's something about ffdshow. I want to know if anyone else use this crap and know how to use it. Is there an editor somewhere that I could use with these files and keep the good quality?

Right now I'm using the editor that came with the camera and WMM, I hate it:(

Here's an example,
Without editing:
YouTube- 98cm sidehop! part1...
With editing:
Ottawa Trials ride [20-02-2010] on Vimeo
and most videos here: www.vimeo.com/jwj

are you definitely rendering in HD, and publishing to youtube in HD?
Im using windows live movie maker and it has a publish straight to youtube option which i use, the quality is basically lossless, the only thing is youtube is limited to 30fps.
awesome sidehop dude ;)

I'm not even filming in HD, because the file is just too big and my computer wont stand it:( I'll search for your Window Live Movie Maker. But does it stands the ffdshow thing?

Thanks about my sidehop:)

What camera do you have?
It's a Jazz HDV178, I think it's a cheap camera, but the quality is pretty good(if not edited).

yeah...word

you might just have to take the loss dood.

that being said...the second, edited video, doesn't even look bad at all....looks pretty good to me.

we all take a loss anyway when uploading to youtube.. my fresh, unedited hd vids look a hundred times better than what ends up on youtube.

Which is because youtube doesnt go higher than 30fps, and most hd is recorded with 60.

I dont want too! I need money for a new frame!! and I got this camera for christmas, I know there's a way to make it work properly though. Someone on the forums showed my something but I can't remember in wich thread and who told me that :(

Maybe I'll really have to get a new camera:(

hmm, try playing the raw file next to the edited then rendered file on your computer (pre upload)
maybe its just youtube taking the quality away?

hmm, try playing the raw file next to the edited then rendered file on your computer (pre upload)I think part of the problem is that there is no raw footage; the camera processes and compresses it automatically. Apparently into it's own little format. ffdshow? Is that the software that came with the camera? Any luck searching on this on the Internet, or for forums at the camera-maker's web site? Oh. Jazz. Probably no forums...

It looks like an amazing video-maker for the price, but with that you get limitations.
