Tell that to my poor rear end. My sem seat is 2" wide at the narrowest part
which is right in the center at the bottom of the curve in the seat--in other
words, at the bottom of the hill (in the seat--this is probably unclear) where I
seem to end up concentrating most of my weight is only a couple of inches and
the corresponding couple of inches on me is not exactly where I find bearing
weight to be comfortable. If I took the seat off and added washers to change the
angle so that it moved me back farther to the back of the seat where it is wider
and resembles a bicycle seat it would probably be better.
What I have done is taken a pair of thick wool socks (not ones you expect to
use on your feet again) and put them on the seat. The one in front is rolled up
so it looks kind of like a knit watch cap and I try to get the thickest part of
the rolled up part to hit me right against me pubic arch. This tilts my pelvis
back and puts more of my weight on my buttocks on the wider part of the seat.
The other sock goes on the back of the seat doubled over once. It's nice to
have a little more padding and the extra layer gives the shearing forces
somewhere to slip before they yank on my skin (just like they do when you wear
them on your feet.)
Another good thing about this arrangement is I can put my juggling balls under
the seat between the two layers of the back sock
But it's still a long way from VERY comfortable. I wouldn't call it comfortable
at all, except maybe MORE comfortable than some other form of torture.
I doubt, at least for my particular rear end, it ever could be comfortable. It's
just too narrow. It is very durable though, which is high praise, really. If I
had the means I might go to someone who makes prosthetic legs etc and get them
to custom make a seat.
In the meantime I'll tru stuffing an innertube in there, too.
