I went on business for 3 weeks to germany from the UK.

I took the tyre off my uni (24"), and the pedals, and then put it in a suit
carrier. I took it as hand luggage and wasn't even questioned once - I was
expecting the X-Ray customs people to ask exactly what was in my bag - but
it didn't happen. It fitted in the overhead locker on the plane without too
much hassle.
