View Full Version : Rotating Tires

It's about time I rotated by tire 1/4 revolution. I recognized the need, so
hopefully I'll follow through before it's too late. Here's my question: What
happens when it's "too late"? It seems obvious: a blowout. However, does this
ever happen? (I guess not if people rotate in time.) This I guess makes it
necessary to get a new tire and innertube. Does anything else get damaged?
Anyone know more about this?

In the 40-49 Men's 1600m race at the National Meet in Monrovia Ken Fuchs had a
blow out with about 30m to go. It wasn't a whistling sound, more like a shotgun
being fired. I don't know if it had to do with not rotating his tire or some
other problem. I just thought I'd throw this in.

I had one of these blowouts last year. I heard a short, loud whistling sound. I
figured it might happen, so I quickly jumped off and walked the uni home. A new
tire and tube fixed the problem.

John, maybe it really WAS a shotgun, and someone was just 'taking out' some
of the competition....
