I'm about the same.
I got a 2nd hand DM (RingMaster I think.. it's worn off) for about 20 quid that
had recently been jumped from a 6' stage, so one pedal was wobbly. When I tried
to replace it I would have to re-tighten each week/day. So I got lazy and had it
welded, though I think aroldyte would work.
That was 3 years ago and the uni was a number of years old before that. It's
quite sturdy (feels heavy) and I recon it has at least 5 more years to it,
minimum. There is a DM factory in the south of the UK so it might not be that
bad for Spain.

I'm about the same.
