Well, I said if England won the Ashes, I'd eat my hat.:o

Perhaps with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Anyone have any hat-based recipes.:p

Or would any Australians just like to chat about the Ashes.:D:D:D

i believe the phrase comes from a dish called hatte, which was so disgusting that consuming it was considered a serious forfeit. This being the internet, here's the recipe (http://www.godecookery.com/mtrans/mtrans02.htm).

Hope you're not waiting until the winter tour ;)

But then if England beat South Africa maybe Mike will need hat recipe No. 2...

Oh no - saw a Mikefule post and expected an enjoyable amusing read, but it's just sodding cricket!

I'm generally not a ball sport fan, but I can just about see the attraction of football and the like. Cricket though (and golf for that matter) - what is the point? Really! Spectacularly boring to watch, even worse to play because you have to try to stay awake in case a ball comes at you - they won't even play it if the weather isn't quite to their liking for pete's sake.

Grrrr.

(My dad and brother are both avid sports fans (including cricket), so I've had this argument before a few times...)

Rob,

You might have got an amusing Mikefule write up but he's been way too busy keeping up with the Ashes to do that.

Funny how sports appeal or don't. I can't be bothered with football, won't even mention what I think of golf. But will quite happily watch a dull F1 race or better still a fun MotoGP race. Test cricket is a bit different though as it works nicely on the wireless.

Love the new signature BTW - saw that reported earlier and it made me smile.
