The Definiton Of Street - Video Competition

I've got some homework you y'all.

So, street has been debated a lot lately, its time to set the record straight.

Flatland has been dominating lately. All the best street riders out there seem to have become bored with street and moved into flatland(where there is still a lot of room for progressing).

But I think Street's potential is still untapped and that almost NOONE besides a select handful of riders, have released STREET videos that can actually be called... pure street...

I wanna see drops, gaps, up gaps, down gaps, twist/spin/flip gaps, flip/spin/twist/gap lines, footplants, RAILS, ledges, twist/spin/flip rails, GRIIIIINDS!!!! CRANKGRAB TRICKS, twist/spin/flip drops! flatland tricks on skinnies into drops, fakie/blind/blunt/switch/switchhand ANYTHING.

So! I want all of you that are interested, to make a video that best describes what PURE street is. Give your video an introduction, feel free to explain what you think street is in your video, be creative(thats what streets all about). You won't be judged on your riding ability, but how you have portrayed street(anyone of any level can enter).

If people are interested, I'll let you all debate when the competition should end, but as of now, it has started. Save your videos untill the competition has ended, then voting shall begin.

COMPETITION PRIZE: Free accomodation at UNICON NZ :cool:

(prize cannot be shared to multiple riders via group vids, free accomodation may not be suitable for younger riders, prize must be collected/confirmed by the end of December 15th or said prize will go to the competition's runner up participent(s) and so on, side effects include itchyness, balding and possibley being submited to daily ridicule).

Judging... I would just make a poll... But... I don't think people would follow the judging guidelines very well. (i'm sure if someone did a rollingwrap to 900, someone would give them extra points, but I'd call it flatland so I'd most likely mark them down on points ahah).

Maybe we can have a poll. Otherwise we'll just vote through discussing whos video best portrays street. I'm sure there will be a lot to discuss and people may even change their vote after hearing what there is to say.

not necessarily. if it's crankrolls etc then that is flatland. but if it's a triple flip or 900 unispin on flat people wouldnt say that its flatland even tho it is just tricks on flat. i think most tricks on flat can b classified as both street and flat. my video will most likely hav a couple of street style tricks on flat. but i geuss its all up to chris seeing as this is his comp and rules

I don't wanna see any flatland, no matter what the trick is :p but whatever, if you think it'll suit the street feel, go for it. I'll probably have a few street lines with a few flips on flat between things.

for me every trick in flat is flatland. just imagin: rollingwrap down 2 staris (its a flat trick what you sayed but its not in flat, so you can´t say flatland trick:rolleyes:. its down 2 staris and so it´s street and not flat (flatland means in flat ground thought:rolleyes:) but a triplflip in flat is a flatland trick. you can´t say flatland tricks. you can just say were you do it: down something or in flat. and that splits flatland and street,it´s not the tricks that split flatland and street IMO:rolleyes:

right well so far my vid has been strongly influenced by bmx street riding (my new inspiration) and ive been trying to make my riding style more like street bmx stuff. so it will basically b big, smooth old skool street and very little technical street (flips etc.) should b good in the end hopefully

Just a side note:
Don't bother asking what is considered street. If you have to ask, its not street. But just film whatever you think is street and it will be disscused when your video is finished and you can tell us what you think makes it street.

I'm probably in but there are two issues.
1. My camera is terrible at picking up sound but If I am close enough to the camera it may pick up
2. My broken bone is meant to be healed in another 2 weeks if not more weeks and the comp will be over before I can even film and ride :(

Oh well I would love to do one even if it's not for the competition :D

Ahaha bad news for me. My cameras batteries/camera charge/camera itself is screwed and now I can't film. And I havn't got enough footage to make a vid and I don't want to put anything out unless its exactly what I want. Whos actually doing this comp?? If you guys want, we could make the deadline bigger, or you guys can just battle it out without me and ill make a seperate vid later on. Gonna have to send my camera to the shop :(

Just watch the riding, not the editing. My name is Duguay, not dugay, the most important definition is incomplete (Street is missing environment at the end) and the editing for the credits is just weird. You just gotta love working on collab vid !

The attempt you saw was the worst and the best attempt I did (i.e. the only one). My knee was killed after this first attempt, so I decided to stop trying. This gap will be landed for sure some day...

To others, the 90-270 shifty is really easy once you can Look Back (180-180). What could be an original name for it ?

I disagree with the name: "shifty to late 180"... the 180 isn't late because the motion comes from the last 90 of the shifty... shifty to late 180 in my opinion would mean that the 180 changes direction from the last 90.
