Just wondering how many musical people there are around the forums.

I'll go first.

I'm from the US, and I live in California! I play the Ukulele, the Guitar, and I try to play the Mandolin (Although my fingers are too big for it, and the pressure is ridiculous)

I'd love to get my hands on a sitar, but that's a beast of its own, plus I'm poor so there you go....

I play harmonica, 1st position, English traditional music, and Anglo concertina in G/D. I play the Anglo as near as possible every day.

I own a 1 row 4 stop Hohner melodeon but seldom play it.

I'm from Virginia and I play the guitar, 5-string bass, didgeridoo, jaw harp, kazoo, and I'm slowly learning the drums. I also do a lot of home audio recording and sound engineering on the Mac.

Wouldn't it be cool if we coordinated together and wrote a unicycle song and all of us contribute to it somehow? Like a cyber-band? Let's do this!! Who's in? We'll need to have someone contribute to writing the lyrics, making a melodie or a catchy tune/hook, and others contribute to adding their instrument (guitar, bass, drums, vocals, etc.) - it would be a real cool unicycle "community event" kind of project/song. Who's game to do this? :D:confused:

Not very active musically at this point in my life. I've sung in choirs, small groups and men's chorus; all under the direction of those much more talented than I. Never had the nerve to pull off a solo. My kids let me sing in the car if the volume is way up.

I took a couple years piano; enough to find the notes but not good enough to play by sight. Used to know a fair amount of guitar chords but now also very rusty. Lost my Jaw Harp years ago. Can still blow some tunes on the harmonica.

I'm curently pathetic when it comes to music.

Well first of all, we'll need some skilled writers. Any English majors out there? Not necessary, but someone with experience in writing lyrics and poetry would be nice. I've written some unicycle songs before but they're kinda corny.

As for the musicians go, we can have only 1 drummer, 1 bassist, preferrably no more than 3 guitars (acoustic, electric lead, electric rhythm), a pianist, a singer or two, and we all have to agree on a style (rock, pop, metal, etc.)

I have done this "cyber band" thing before--I have made the bass & guitar tracks, my friend from California sent me the drum tracks to the song we covered and my friend from the Netherlands did the vocals. We've done two songs (both metal) but I'm willing to do anything alternative/rock/pop/etc.

Anyway, the musician must be able to record himself/herself playing their part in a decent quality format. If you don't have a sound studio, go in your clothing closet and record (find the most sound-absorbant place in your home). This is how I have always done the song making process, cyber style:

1. Someone writes the song (lyrics & music)
2. First instrument to record is normally piano or drums. Record the song with a specific tempo (separate from recording!) so we'll have a BPM reference. After the first instrument is recorded, email the audio file to the next person, preferrably as a WAV or lossless audio format. All musicians should have some form of audio recording software, such as protools, soundtrack pro, or even sony acid works.
3. The next musician takes that audio file, adds it to their software as a track. On a separate track, they record their part with the music, and make a mix of their track. Send audio file to next person & repeat until complete.
4. Last guy should be the best at mixing audio. Each person sends their own track to this guy and he cleans it up and finalizes the master mix!

I'll be glad to do some bass guitar or electric guitar work. Anyone want to join forces and make a community unicycle song!?? It can be funny, too, if you want it to include jokes about riders you know, or just about unicycling in general. First step is writing!!

I can play any style, have 7 guitars to choose from, and can either mic my own guitar cabinet, or use the software Guitar Rig 3 to get the best sound for the sound of the song.

There are sites that offer online collaborations, and ive checked those out, and also being part of the Cubase forums I hear a lot about collabs and offered my playing, but this would be my first time doing one.


If we have troubles finding drums or bass I can do those too with VST. Superior Drummer 2 for drums, and I have Kontakt 3 with 33gig sound library that has some pretty good bass samples in there.

Both vsts you wont know they arent real unless I make it painfully obvious.

Sweet! We have a lead guitarist then! I figured it would be best for each musician to mix and send an audio file--that way each musician can use the software that he/she is most comfortable using. So, what musical style do we want to pursue in this project?

I'll do bass & rhythm guitar if nobody wants rhythm guitar.

Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Some unspiritual ones too. I'm learning "The Entertainer" and I like some of the Sound of Music Tunes.

I have old strings on the guitar I play(can't say it's mine) so I was shredding (on an acoustic?!) last night to the best of my ability to see if a string would break. I did my imitation of Jack Shimabukuro's "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" harder and faster then ever before, but had no breakage. I guess the strings aren't too bad.:p
