View Full Version : Help: Mini DV Tape stuck in DV player

Does anyone have an idea how to remove a Mini DV Tape from a tape player. When I press eject, the tape is pushed up and into view, but not out. It cannot be grasped.

One theory is that the self-stick label has partially peeled off, and this impedes exit. If that is so, what do you recommend?

Take the machine apart and you'll have a better idea of what's going on. Any attempts to try to pry it out or stick things inside may only cause further damage.

Proper hydration, dietary fiber, and physical activity are key. Also, never ignore the urge.

That's not my machine, but are you serious about taking the thing apart?

Why not go in with tweezers and extract the tape?

Because when you stick tweezers in you have a chance of scratching the playhead and things like that. Opening it up has a far smaller chance of damaging the machine or the tape.

Billy, I hope my previous post was helpful. It just occurred to me... do you care about the tape? If not, this opens up more possibilities for extracting the tape. Also, this is not your machine? LOL, you borrowed the device and now you have a tape stuck in it? Sounds like a sitcom episode. Say, Brady Bunch meets the 21st century?

Cute, but she knows all about it. It happened in her machine when we were together, watching a mini-DV Tape of you. (You know the one....) what

Your link didn't work. What type of machine are we talking about here? Is it a camcorder or a deck?

Deck.

If its' a deck then definitely take it apart. It's usually not that hard to take the top of the case off. Usually just a few screws. With the top off you'll see much better what the problem is.
