I have been reading the postings regarding saddle sores and have one other
alternative. I have discovered that a pair of compression short help alot also.
Compression shorts are the tight elastic shorts used by pro-athletes under their
regular shorts. They are touted to cutdown the risk of pulled hamstrings and the
like. I like them because they keep my thunder-thighs from chafing beneath a
pair of shorts. I found the compression shorts are also good at the job of
keeping the male vitals up and out of the way thus making the mounting job less
stressful. They dont have any padding in them but the seams are very tiny and
haven't caused me any chafing problem. I wear a pair of thin, lightweight shorts
over them and have had no problem. While they don't have the padding of bike
shorts they do cut down the chafing problem and are considerably less expensive
than the bike shorts I have priced. Compression shorts can be found in most
major department stores and cost around 10-12 dollars (U.S.). I am looking to
buy bike shorts when I find the finances but in the mean time the compression
shorts seem to be working fine.

Why doesn't some enterprising unicycling tailor out there create a pair of
unicycling shorts custom made for the rigors of unicycle riding? Just a thought.
