Hey guys,

I just put a new video up on youtube:

YouTube - Dead End

I wanted to do something outside of my typical range of work...so be warned, it's a little unusual.

*Make sure to click "watch in high quality"!

Any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Very nice video. Are you in film school or something? (Don't be offended - I don't mean that it was amateurish; I ask because most people don't just make videos like this out of idleness...)

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm actually a broadcasting and mass communications major at SUNY Oswego. I'm considering film school afterward though, think I should?

Maybe you should wait till the good comments are all in before you comment like that. as for film school...maybe once you learn proper "thank you" etiquette before applying. p.s dont you think the 4.5 stars is a bit high? ...Such an amateur... p.s. i see you texting margaret right now... booper!

That's an important life decision that should be based on a lot of factors, but in my not professional opinion, I think you have an aptitude for it.
I've paid money to watch much worse films...

My understanding is that room mates are flammable.

Nice work.
I see a lot of contemporary horror influences in there.
But that's no bad thing.

Keep it up.

I think it could be important, and it can also not be important.

Im gonna go to school for audio technology just cause I like to record music and production stuff like that, and thats my only reason for it. So its not going to be a matter of importance to me, just something to do.

Just sayin'. =p

Anyways, it was pretty sweet. I chuckled at the black nail-polish, cause to me its very cliche, but I got the whole image of it. At first I though it was gonna be a unicycle video. lol

You'll end up selling your soul to end up producing audio that is overly dynamically compressed. It is inevitable. Your soul is doomed.

IMO, anything you spend years of your life doing has importance.

Jason I really liked it. I also believe that you really have a nack for this sort of thing. I think you should go to film school.

What program did you use for editing and what camera are you using?Loved the video, even if you took to far a couple of times. I don't think I'd go so far as calling it a pokemon attack though. How did you do the mirror scene was that editing or did use a green screen.

I liked the road with one side dark, the other light, and the character switching back and forth. I'm assuming that was intentional, and well done.

I liked the music.

I wish I could just improv for hours playing that kind of stuff. Not necessarily all in a minor key, though...

Also liked the mirror scene a lot. That was bangin'. The intro was my overall favorite, though, the scenes of the water and buildings and birds.

Thanks a lot for all the comments everyone. As for the questions:

Really enjoyed the video Jason. I was wondering, what was his motivation for killing himself?

The plot (very briefly) is that the character is overcome by a paranormal state of existence in which he has no control over his actions or mind. As it gets worse, he comes to realization that the only way to avoid it is to kill himself. The spitting of the pills signifies him changing his mind. The irony is that shortly afterward he gets hit by a truck, leaving the viewer to wonder if that was for the better.

What program did you use for editing and what camera are you using?Loved the video, even if you took to far a couple of times. I don't think I'd go so far as calling it a pokemon attack though. How did you do the mirror scene was that editing or did use a green screen.

The camera I used was the school's Sony HDR-FX1 HD Cam. I used Final Cut Pro for the editing and Adobe After Effects (and Photoshop a little) for the effects. I don't understand the logic behind the "pokemon" comments. For the mirror scene I simply did a split screen effect in post. A green screen would've enabled me to make it slightly more convincing, but with time constraints and such I decided against it.

Thanks again everyone - I really appreciate the film school advice.

Very well done....the lighting was very good, as well.....DP work can be a result of that....I would encourage you to look in to finding a local band who wants a video shot, and use your skills to get your demo reel started.

Good work!

Are you sure you are okay? I'm being serious. That was very well done but kind of sick in a way. Do you need help?
