I ride with a BIG mountain bike tyre and find 7mph on road a very gentle cruise
speed if I want to really move 13 to 14 is about my fastest cruising speed with
absolute top of maybe 16.

I ride with a 26 x 1.1 tire. 9-10 mph is an easy cruise speed, 15-16mph top
speed. this is with 172's and half toe clips. I also feel that acceleration is a
bit better because of a significant reduction in rolling resistance. there is a
pretty noticable difference between a 1.75" and a 1.25" or 1.1". I also run at
110 lbs. pressure.

I ride with slicks on all my uni's except the one I use for off road. I've been
using them for years (since they came out). I like them because they provide
consistent grip no matter what you are doing. particularly with spin entries and
sharp turns when I lean a lot.

like everyone else has said tho, dusty tile or wood can be slick, a rubber gym
floor is nice tho.

I have been riding across a lot of gravel and dirt lately without to much
trouble the, rocks make the uni jump around a lot, sometimes they shoot out from
under the tire. ( there is road being put in that merges with my commute )
