How saddening. It's kinda weird, I was in Chicago just a week ago.
I had a chance to see him once but I missed it. Damn... Such a great person.

I read "Working" in college on a (published) recommendation from Edward Abbey. Classic. That was a great introduction to his work, although over the years I've still barely made a dent in his output.

Apparently Studs Terkel said in 2000, "The Republicans are diphtheria and the Democrats are the flu". FWIW.
