I can't believe this. It's almost too good to be true. Adobe has made a camera lens with 19 mini-lenses in it to create a 100+ MP photograph. Check out this link:

http://www.notcot.com/archives/2008/02/adobe_lightfiel.php

It uses different perspectives and a different focus distance on each lens to create a 3-D image and allow the user to edit the photo later and decide where to put the focus or to slightly alter the perspective---even have the option of having the entire picture at every distance in perfectly clear focus. If you didn't already, watch the video at the bottom of that page to see what it can do when you start editing the photo. I can't wait until they release this to the public. I'm saving my money already!

I didn't see the part where you got the 100+ MP from. Lenses do not make pixels. That takes place in the image sensor(s). That link also didn't mention how the data was being captured; whether it was one big sensor or several small ones. In any case, it would take a *lot* of sensor space for that to work well; essentially it's taking 19 different pictures of the scene. Very cool, but probably with limited usefulness until it can be made small/cheap enough to not be ultra-specialized. It's also like having to make the major part of 19 separate cameras and wiring them all together.

Note that this lens system has nothing to do with Adobe. They make software, and somebody else is making the hardware. The video clip looks like it might be from Photoshop World (www.photoshopworld.com), which is held twice a year.

And of course, I'd like to play with one too!

Im presuming, the imperfections in the lenses are the only thing of quality.im guessing the glass cant support it.

ah the high mega pixel count, the salesman's chief weapon in extracting money from idiots.

It was actually in popular science magazine about 2 years ago and I had just thought about it again so I found the website. In PopSci it said that it would take a special camera and if it is all in clear focus, it can get up to 100 MP.

Very cool, but probably with limited usefulness

I know, but for me, there is an emphasis on the very cool part.

Hm. I didn't see that before.
