What are p.k and m.k.
PK=Pastor's Kid
MK=Missionary's kid.
It is church speak--probably something only a pastor/missionary or his/her children would know.

I used to own tham all on video.
Now I'm picking them up slowly one by one on DVD.
I tried to find Spaulding's grand entrance ("Hooray for Captain Spaulding, the African explorer!") but to no avail.

Anybody else a PK? I'm not, but my three kids are.
Be sure to climb Kilimanjaro while you're there.
If you live and work locally, you apparantly get a special reduced price.

Please tell the people in Africa to be thankful they do to live in the USA, where there are awful economic conditions.
See if anyone there knows how to do a "food dance" for the USA.

language, something else, meetings(I won't attend), taking care of the other missionary children (during the meetings(I won't attend)), sleeping, other stuff, stuff I can't think of, other stuff I can't think of, etc...
You sounds well organised and totally on top of it.
Just hope they don't cover "don't drink the water and don't feed the lions" in one of the meetings you won't attend.

Also watch out for flying insects. I'm not sure what you've got over there, but I know they were quite present in Guyana during the 8 years I was there as an MK.
Maybe I missed it, but what mission organization are you guys under?

no it wasn't terrorism someone decided they needed some transformer parts.
We recently had half a days outage as a result of a vervet monkey deciding it needed some transformer parts.
Touched all the wrong wires and burnt itself to a solid crisp, knocking out the power to a quarter of the town.
Poor monkey.

do the pubs stay open with candles?
Due to some 'issues' we've had recently (GOOGLE "load shedding") most venues have generators available to keep essentials running.
Like in the local mall, they have generators to run the machines where you pay for your parking but not for the aircons.
So all the shops close, but they can (and do) still charge you for parking.

In a way, that's too bad.
On the rare occasion a hurricane knocks out the electricity, I've enjoyed taking refuge from the storm in a pub with the novel atmosphere created by no lights, only candles.
