Brian should add a bike option, get this game out there big time, and thus make it worth it to add more content.

Then it would be prpject uni and bike. Keep it pure.

You can play it on the mac with crossover but I wouldn't bother until we've released another update.

The reason no one plays anymore is because it got boring. We weren't far enough along with it for it to be really fun for any long period of time. The novelty of the small amount of content we have so far wears off pretty quick. I think dave and I are the only ones to have actually fully completed both winter wonderland and after the storm though. I think most people assume they are impossible and give up. We thoroughly tested both levels as we made them.

We haven't worked on it for a long time but don't worry. We haven't given up on it.

We aren't going to add bikes. If anything we will allow the character to hop off the uni to climb up stuff or run around but we are keeping the focus on uni, even if it doesn't get us famous.

tight, the last part sounds pretty cool.

in my opinion, it should be an mmorpg sorta, and built like Tony Hawks American Wasteland. I know that'd be the biggest beotch to make, but it'd be really cool.

eh, if you could format it for ps2, that'd be even cooler, since you'd be able to arrange online games with people, and roam cities with unis.

and NPC's also, like cops, homeowners, annoying towns-folk, and the occasional business owner.

nevermind me though, you could probably care less for my input.

whatever you do brian, its gonna be cool. Good Luck.

I would play more if:

-More realistic speed
-More tricks
-More controllable hops/trials movements
-More courses that are fun to *play* on rather than a complete challenge just to get somewhere

Just a bit of my input.

I beat the winter wonderland the middle was extremly hard but after you made it past there it wasn't bad. I don't think i downloaded After the storm? or i don't remeber it.

I think what's been done is good, but the game needs more of a purpose for people to want to play it over and over again, perhaps something a bit more like tony hawke where you get points for tricks and that sort of stuff would be cool.

I think the best addition to the game would be a balance feature. Or an analog type control. Say you balance with 'wasd' and controll direction with the arrow keys. Space would be jump, and you would have to put in a certain order of keys to do a trick, making it actually hard to do.

samwii

I know some of these suggestions may not be possible because of the software but I'm gonna say them anyway, because I think they would be cool in a game:

-being able to customise your trials uni, like frame parts, tyres, rim etc... but only when you have the money and when the parts are in 'stock' in the shop (when you unlock them).
-be able to change your tyre pressure so its more or less bouncy.
-have side hopping, but while your leaning, have a gauge what you can change for the power you want to your hop
-Tony hawks project 8 style tricks where you can press a button to put it in slow mo and controll your tricks... so like a 90 unispin and then flip it the other way 270 unispin and stuff... If you get what I mean.
-awesome graphics and realistic unicycle bails
-when you do slow mo it zooms in when you land a trick, and depending on how big the trick the more or less the tyre flexes.

Like I said its not very likely any of us could do it... but imagine how awesome that would be? get some amazing trials pro like yoggi to write to activision and make it :D

I was about to say the exact same thing. I wish there was a unicycle game pretty much like American Wasteland, with all the features you just mentioned. I would get that game almost instantly if it came out!

Bailing after Nail a trick (but on a uni) would be awesome... just imagine... landing sketchy, tyre unflexes, guy goes flying.... :D
We must beg to activision to make it!
oh and I forgot to mention on my list, create a character, but like on tiger woods where It actually looks like yourself!

I think we should make a letter, with a request from everyone in the unicyclist.com forums, including official requests from every unicycling pro you can think of, along with videos of trials unicylcing, and send it to them begging for a game and proving that they could get sales! who's up for it?

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 05:14 PM
yeah, I've considered that actually. I was going to put a post up but didn't.

That would be so cool to ride around and have the pros on the game, like Kris, Shaun, Yoggi, Joe etc. That would be awesome!

Oh, and terry :D

samwii
2008-10-29, 05:20 PM
Same...

Ok heres how I think it should work. I know Kris will be willing to help. When the first letter is finished, Post a new thread. get everyone we can to record themselves saying something like "I'm ....... Ive been unicycling for ....... years/month and I can......." . then make them do the trick they said and finish the vid by going "I would love to have a realistic unicycling game out".
put all these vids together in one like.... 2 hour film and send it to them.

Sound like a plan?

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 05:24 PM
Sounds like a plan. If we can get Kris, Yoggi and The UDC people we'd have most of the manufactures involved too. I think thats pretty much a necessity to have the companies in it, because It will help the game be more realistic.

samwii
2008-10-29, 05:27 PM
yep good Idea. I'll make a note of it. and Ive got kris's email address so I can inform him of it. first things first is to make the official message

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 05:41 PM
I'd have to leave that to you I'm afraid. I'm not to good with official things lol. I could try and get hold of Roger, and Sponge may be able to get Yoggi's email... If its not on the site.

samwii
2008-10-29, 05:43 PM
yeah sure... I like challenges.
but yeah, It would be awesome though.

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 05:48 PM
yeah it would, I reckon the game company would only make it if they knew there was a large market for it, so it will have to appeal to a lot of people, and get rid off the circus idea people have when they thing of unicycles. The circus idea could hold it back... people have to see unicycling as fun and a serious sport really.

samwii
2008-10-29, 05:57 PM
good point,
and for changing there mind, a TV add would be all action trials... maybe even have a trials biker failing to do the same line as a unicyclist.... or something... but thats ages ahead yet, we just need to think about getting the letter done

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 06:06 PM

Jerrick

Dont forget to get friendly with an actual gaming company. Im pretty sure Kris, Ben, and Roger all dont know how to make a video game. EA Games and others, well, they know what they are doing.

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-29, 06:37 PM
Exactly! Do these game companies have sites? I'll have a look

1-wheeled-grape

Might help

How the hell do you make your own trials courses? I think there is an editor but hell, it makes no sence.

It would be cool if you could..
-Select your own unicycle
-More tricks like grinding, side-hops, unispins
-and like everyone else said

(And I still don't understand this plan)

I completed winter wonderland, after the storm was just next to impossible though.

1-wheeled-grape

I can't do either! They're impossibly hard

samwii
2008-10-30, 01:00 PM
If I were you I would stick to activision or maybe EA. activision are the guys who made the whole series of Tony Hawks games and Matt Hoffmans bmx

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-30, 01:02 PM
yeah, thats best I reckon.

samwii
2008-10-30, 01:06 PM
ok I'm gonna check out activisions website.
also we need to consider like where it will be based and stuff. You can't just leave it to the developers or it would not be realistic

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-30, 01:14 PM
I know! There was a thread on here before about the best unicycling cities... that could help!

Also what type of unicycling will it be mainly... trials, street, freestyle, flat, muni? They're all possibilities. Although the more popular street, trials and muni would probably be best and most appealing.

samwii
2008-10-30, 01:19 PM
Indeed! that should help a lot. could I have the link?

Trials and MUni, although with street and flat, flat could be added in like Tony Hawks does with the manual... so you would do a button combo on the ground that would enter 'Flat' mode... If you get what I mean, so It would be mainly trials, but on certain 'days' in the game there would be MUni events that you can enter... Only If you've got a Municycle though!

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-30, 01:29 PM
yeah, that sounds good, you could also like earn new parts and unicycles from challenges like call-outs, muni races, or street and trials events and tasks. And earn sponsorship or something, get on the front cover of UNI... loads of crazy things but meh.

I cant find it ATM... I'll keep looking.

samwii
2008-10-30, 01:32 PM
Ah it will be brilliant.. but still, we need to stick to the basics first and try to contain our dreams or it's never gonna happen.
Ok don't worry, I'll look as well. ATM I'm just writing down the ideas of it.

Hows the letter thingy coming?

Jerrick
2008-10-30, 04:33 PM
Also gonna need some money. Hope you're rich.

The editor isnt too bad to use, you have the items, can twist them, distort them, and place them anywhere. Water is fun to mess with cause you can change the properties. I had a lake built that if you touched the water, youd die, but one spot of the water, if you landed on it, would launch you way far up into the sky.

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-30, 05:19 PM
yeah... money could be an issue :(

samwii
2008-10-31, 10:22 AM
letters going allright, still only a draft. I don't know... how many people in the forums would be willing to spend a little bit of money say £5 each? (just think... 1000 people in the forums help out all giving £5, £5000 is quite a generous amount, and the company will make a profit (hopefully when it sells)

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-31, 10:33 AM
yeah, I don't know how much it costs to make a game... we'd have to get hold of people who've made them before, or the companies themselves.

samwii
2008-10-31, 10:39 AM
alot, but games manufacturers depend on the sales to make the profit. they don't usually care about how much money they spend, as long as they get more in return... so it would have to be a bloody good game (which it will. it involves unicycles :D)

1-wheeled-grape
2008-10-31, 11:04 AM
exactly! Lets hope they have a big enough market other wise they wont make it.

I don't know who did the parkour game but you might want to find out and get in contact with them.
Parkour is still a fairly niche sport, so they have experience of making and marketing a game with a limited audience.

I have an old Nintendo 64 game called Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 and it still works!
You start off with choosing a rider and increasing default stats like speed, air, rail balance. There are like 10 levels. In a level you get 10 missions and for each mission you do, you get money. With that money you can buy decks, tricks and stats. And for each level you have a 2 minute time limit.
Missions are...

*Collect S-K-A-T-E ...you ride around and have to go to various places in the level to collect the seperate letters
*Pro Score...You have to do tricks to get points, the better the trick or combo the more points you get. Say you mite have to get 15,000 points
*Hi Score- 30,000 points
*Sick score- 80,000 points
*Collect pilot wings...like collect skate
*Jump 3 hangtime gaps...you have to jump or do a trick over 3 major jumps with a gap in the middle
*Nose Grind Halfpipe rail...You have to nose grind a rail...
*Collect the barrels...just like collect pilot wings
* Collect the secret tape...have to find a secret area and get the tape..

IN COMPARRISON...

*Collect U-N-I-C-Y-C-L-E
*Pro, Hi, Sick score...do seatwhips, crankflips etc to get points...
*Do 3 rail grinds or hickflip or do whateva tricks over gaps
*Grind a long rail
*Collect the.... ... ... .. Pizzas
*Collect the secret tape

With the money you could buy your own unicycles and stuff and increase stats. All the best unicycles and tricks will cost more money...

I think basicly everyone in america knows what tony hawks pro skater is. And your ideas are not orgininal, you are just colecting things from another game to copy into Project Uni.

TADSunitONE
2008-11-03, 09:06 AM
lol. you guys have some great ideas going here.

btw. i dont mean to be dumb or anything, but is the projectUNI game supposed to be super 'laggy' or is it just my computer?

Jerrick
2008-11-03, 09:23 AM
Probably your comp. I ran it on a 700mhz processer (Cant remember if it was intel or AMD or the name), about 500megs of ram, and a ATI rage 128 and it ran fine.

A good thing to do is find what your graphics card is, go update teh drivers for it, and then go update your DirectX. Then remove all un-needed processes so that way before you start the game, your comp is only running what it need to be stable and running. No background processes for your webcams, printers, burning, and little things like that need to be on, and youll free up your system resources a bit.

Then try the game out.

A quick virus/spyware scan doesnt hurt either.

And one more thing, your insides may be dusty. Dust creates lots of heat, and ProjectUNI on an older comp may but a good % of load on the cpu and gpu, added with bad air circulation (intakes and exhaust), and dusty parts, the heat may cause some lag. Are you getting any artifacts or tearing?

That game is awesome... But parkour is much better in real, you can FEEL the adrenaline! I love parkour despite the fact I suck at it.

Good idea Edd, I'll have a look at my friends copy when I can. I'll have a go at playing it too :D
