Hey everyone,

New video time. I have been working on this one for 2 and a half months... I was expecting to finish this in April before I had surgery on my throat, but well time is a bitch. Anywho I worked real hard on this one. It may be kind of long for some of you, but I would appreciate if you give a a fair chance, so get yourself some popcorn or snack of your choice, and a beer, or NA drink for you minors and nondrinkers, and enjoy.

Vimeo HD (http://www.vimeo.com/unicycle) *note* this may not be up yet. My compression was a bit over 500mb. I will get it up asap, it will be at the top of this page

Well, the intro sure was a good idea, but 4 minutes? Come on, thats just to long.
But other then that, the movie was great.
Some great spots with great editing.
Good job Sam.

I watched half of it. So far so good, but to long. I need to leave for work lol. I wish I could finish. I'll finish some other time. I like your style and this vid is very artistic.

Great video. Some of the best editing i've seen in a long time. Your flat is better than I would have expected. I'm looking forward to riding with you about 10 times more now. I'm speechless, really. Stoked for your next vid.

In your other vids, you didn't quite showcase all your tricks, and kept basic tricks like wheel walks and stuff in them, with only a few nice tricks. It is quite apparant to me now, that you have saved those tricks for this vid, and put everything you had into making this.

I'm greatly impressed. Nice work.

Excellant. What can I say. Living the dream is great. At 46 years old, I know how important it is to live out the things you dream of.

I really like the intro, especially all the slow motion moves. It gives everyone a chance to take a good look at what it is going on, and to learn how to do some new moves.

Im currently downloading it, and I'm quite excited to watch it. It's been a while since one of your vids. It was weird I was just thinking that you should be making a new one soon, then I see this!

Your tech street is growing so fast, that flat can only slow you down, although its nice to have a few tricks in your arsenal of flat.

You def. Have to teach me some of that this summer. I look up to your riding.

Awesome, by far your best video. Really great video quality and editting.

I liked how you did the intro, very origional. You have some really great video production skills.

and you also have the exact voice as Jon Lajoie IMO

He sounded like Nick Couts for a little while in the beginning (the guy that narrated for "another perspective")

Once again, props.

Wow, thanks. Thats prolly one of the best compliments you could give me, not quite there yet tho.

p.s. dont you turn into a flat rider on me....i see some of those flat skills peeking through!
Thanks bro. I put alot of work into learning new tricks, I feel, at 23 I am behind in the game... its all about catch up.

I thought about trying to hit that rail again, but it is so flat and bendy, F that. I will stick to learning on real handrails.

As for flat vs. street, I dont see myself stopping street. I dont understand what people mean by when you do one you loose you skills with the other. I plan to combine the two as much as possible. However I think flat is so stylish its hard to not want to get good at. I mean its way easier to find flat than stairs and other creative stuff to ride. Its just a fun pure way to ride, very challenging and very rewarding.

Excellant. What can I say. Living the dream is great. At 46 years old, I know how important it is to live out the things you dream of.

Yes. I was hoping the video would apeal to all ages and rider and non riders alike, thanks. So you have learned 5 spins now,;) .

Thank you, also. slow down pfff, haha. Adding flat to street lines is about as techy as it gets in my opinion.

Looking forward to some NYC riding, as well. I am sure you will teach me more than you think.

Awesome, I really liked it. It kept me interested for the whole time so I didn't think it was too long. I liked the body varial to and from hopping on wheel.

Thanks to you too. I was hoping someone would mention that trick. I have not seen it doen before, but assume that is has been done. Its not too hard, however the line I did with that trick was by far the hottest hardest angriest combo in the video.... It ended with a seat push like it started but hard to tell and not worth trying to show.

Everyone else Thanks again. If you did not get responded to just know I still read your comments and appreciate them.

What type of camera do you have?

Mine recently broke, and if it isn't under warranty, then I need a new one.

Yours seems to be great.

Your varial roll was crazy cool. The body varial on tire was kinda hard to judge. That graf was an extremely cool backdrop. 360 to stand up ww... some oldschool flat moves that I might have to steal and variate :D Also, cool colors looked real nice.

Edit: I was surprised to not see any trey's or doubleflips though. Oh yeah, cheeky handrail grind too :p

Unless you mean that the tire to tire varial was hard to judge because of the graff, I am not sure what you are saying. I think its easy to judge. Its super sloppy. I could barely stand up and could not film it any cleaner... all those hops ooof. The trick on its own is pretty easy and I will surely have a cleaner version in another vid.

Yea no doubles are treys. I was originally going to have more street in this vid, but was informed that I may have to back up a call out. That did not happen however my next vid will be a for the riders kind of video, and will have some bigger stuff like that which looses its true awesomeness to the general public.

Thanks man, had to remind me about the rail. There really is nothing to grind where I live. Or Brooklyn. The skate parks around here dont even have anything worth wile...... I guess I will never get to be a true grinding master... well unless you talk to the ladies, haha.

the tire to tire body varial wasnt a full 180 is all im saying. Reminded me of people that have troubles with sex changes that look basically like hickflips.

But it was close enough. Never seen it before.

That was crazy good!

Your best vid. Awesome riding, great style. Really nice edit. I liked the little details in the edit (lyric: "channel my aggressions" and then you throw your uni. The little bells in the music, and you did a tire grab foot tap thing at 7:10)

Great video, the work you put in showed.

I would have skiped the intro if I knew it was going to be so long for like 5 clips. But that's just me.

The rest of the vid was nice, there's some creative lines. Nice backgrounds, it's nice that you vary spots.

The thing I don't like tho is that you use all your clips from a spot all in row. I'd like to se for example the graffiti wall, then a stair set, something else, then the grafitti wall again.

Another thing, it would be a lot nicier if you would do you bigger trick in one line. Example, 540 unispin an varial roll, it's much nicier to see them in the same line.

Last thing, when your putting your camera on a tripod and riding a flat ground spot, try to vary you angles, most of the time, your camera is perpendicular to your riding.

-Émile, who is trying to give a constructive comment.

The riding and editing was really good. But I prefer fast paced street videos, and I found the first 4 minutes really boring. I just thought with that editing and riding skill the video could of been a lot better. I did enjoy the last 5 minutes of the video though, and you had some awesome tricks in there. I also liked the locations.

BTW you're got a rather interesting colour scheme on your uni :P

That was incredible Sam. I don't understand the crap everyone is saying about it being too long. I wanted it to never end, especially the "intro". I think pushing those important four minutes off to the side as just a mere intro is a disservice. What you said in that video really is what keeps many us going. A lot of the time, especially recently I've been getting pulled away from riding, whether it be because I think I've worked a long day or maybe just because it happens to be a bit too hot out. Hearing those words really helped me put some things into perspective. Without living my dream I'm not living at all. Without that to pursue we are just drones surviving day after day until our days have been spent.

Let me not forget your skills and the progression! Just two or so months ago you couldn't even backflip. I remember being so pumped to land one before you on our ride, but now a fakie flip down a set? What? When does all this progression happen? You've left me in the dust. Keep it up man, I'm so impressed.

This video was most certainly a winner, right up there with Zen Junkie. Not many videos earn a second viewing from me but this one definitely gets it, and a third, and fourth, ...

I definitely disagree there. I think keeping the clips from individual locations together allows for a more natural progression of the video rather than just a chaotic spattering of clips.

One thing I'd like to say though is that while I found the white boarder appropriate for the first four minutes with it adding to the mood, I would have liked for it to disappear after that. I felt like it took away from the visual appeal of the footage and kind of counteracted your punchy contrast and saturated colors. I loved the editing in the clips during the credits though, totally awesome film look.

Will we be hearing about a Monster sponsorship sometime soon? Shameless.

I dont get it either. Maybe they aren't looking at how meaningful and artistic it was supposed to be.

I loved it though.

Sorry, Emile, in this video, the constant background I thought was perfect. If he went from the graffiti, to something else, I think it would of ruined what he did do with the graffiti parts.

Anyways, this has to be one of the best videos that have came out in a long time.

Thanks guys.
HD version will be up today on vimeo.

Emile- Thanks for giving your opinion. Constructive criticism is always welcome, however If it was not clear enough by the style of this video I want to try to nicely explain that I was not looking for it. Besides a few extra hops here and there:rolleyes: I was very careful to edit this video up the way I did with much thought behind it.

Thank you Brain and Jerrick for expressing in words here, that what I tried to express in the "intro" was more than a simple intro. That is kinda the joke... IN film you are allowed to play with time and ideas and in a subtle way when an intro becomes its own half of the film there is something special being expressed.

Matty-
You the man, It is me who looks forward to more, from you.

Editing - Fantastic
Riding - Fantastic

The intro was awesome, i thought that the intro by itself is a cool video, a look into the mind and passion of a unicyclist.

Keep up the good work, cant wait to see another, 2 1/2 months well spent I say
