It’s the second toe on my right foot. I tripped coming down the stairs and bent it back underneath. I heard it crack and now I can’t put any weight on it. And I was just getting ready to start training to run a marathon. Now I guess I’ll just have to sit and watch a movie. Anyway, it’s pretty sore. We’ll see what it feels like tomorrow.

Ouch.
I can sympathise, having broken several toes in my foot before.
Hope it heals quickly.

The marathon's loss is the forum's gain.

What movies are on tonight?

That's pretty much in scale for Bruce's foot too.

Just kidding about the marathon, of course. I think I'll settle for NCIS tonight then do a bit more studying. Gonna start my summer courses tomorrow morning so I've got to be prepared. All good sit-down stuff.

One time I rolled off the top bunk of my bed and somehow spun around and kicked the corner of my dresser on my way down. My little toe really hurt and turned all blue, im not sure if it was broken or not. I just carried on like normal and it healed eventually.

Hang in there Bruce, and try to take it very easy. I joined the broken toe club about a year ago, and tried to rush my recover so I could participate in a coker ride around Lake Tahoe. I wasn't ready to ride, which caused me to fall more than I should have. And I DEFINITELY wasn't ready to fall more than I should have, because every time I came down it was on the bad foot. I think I set myself back by being impatient, as the toe bothered me for months afterward, and if fact still does sometimes. It came 85-90% back, but not 100%. Rest up, don't push it, be patient, eat your Wheaties, and hopefully you will fare better.

i hear the toe truck (http://www.footzine.com/toetruck.jpg) has really good serviceHow odd! Not that there's a pink "Toe Truck" out there driving around, but that there are at least two of them! This one was spotted at the big Harborfest Parade, that was a part of Unicon 11 in Seattle, WA in 2002. This was possibly the most unicycles ever in a single parade, at least ouside of Japan!

At least you did not break it while unicycling. That would give our sport a bad name.

Just kidding .... sorry to hear about your pain. I would not wish that on anyone.

Y'know, Dave got me thinking. I did give you bad cereal advice. Eat Lucky Charms, and the resulting good luck will help prevent the next break from ever happening. It will also allow you to speed in your car while being magically protected from car accidents, a little secret you'll never hear from Dave.

John,

I knew that I'd seen that truck before. I hadn't recalled that it was there at the UNICON parade. I looked back in my photos and found that I had taken a photo of that truck as well. Brad got a tour of the weinermobile that day as we were staging for the parade. He still remembers it.

Tom, YUCK on Lucky Charms. Sorry. :) If it were the last thing on earth to eat, I'd be a very skinny man. I'll stick with my eggs and sausage. It's a staple 'round the Edwards abode on early summer mornings. That with a cup of dark roast coffee makes the world go round.

Bruce,

Sounds like you'll be kicking the dog with your left foot for a while.

Some doctors say that with the use of these you'll never break that toe again. Don't listen to them...

Bruce-

This is a less than optimal thread title. As it reads, you appear break a toe every day. In order to be specific you should let this thread die and start a new one with the date of the toe break in the title. Other than this minor faux pas I am pleased with the progress you have made with your spelling, grammar, and capitalization. Mary's tutoring seems to be paying off.

Quit whining about your toe. You have nine extras.

Ouch! Hope it mends unexpectadly quickly. I've never broken a toe, so cannot sympathise. I have however broken a finger...

It was my brothers though, I kicked it :D! I'm nice like that.

Bruce! You kill me! I missed breakfast this morning, and was almost going to last until lunchtime, until I read this post.

I'm presently gnawing on my wristpad and dreaming of scrambled eggs, cooked in butter, with a touch of parsley and black pepper.

Quit whining about your toe. You have nine extras.
Greg, I'm disappointed. Someone as mathematically-inclined as you should realize each toe now must bear ~2 percent more load... and this is only in the static case.

Actually, that's probably a low estimate, as the second toe bears much more weight than, say, the 4th and 5th toes on each foot.

Nonetheless, your neglect of your slide rule in this case is blatantly obviated by your callousness towards Bruce's situation. I can only shake my head in disappointment.

*shakes head*

Bruce has every reason to whine. I'm sending him some cheese today.

By that logic, thanks to Tyler Cox, you just turned 336 years old to (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63829)day. We should start talking about the condition of your toes after 300+ years of use and abuse.

Mary knows a lot, unlike me who don't no alot. She's very good for me.

And that's off slightly because I'm carrying the majority of my slim figure weight on my left foot. Very little pressure on my right.

Bruce has every reason to whine. I'm sending him some cheese today.I do whine but not wine. Mmmm...cheese. Can't wait to cut it. Then Mary will be whining.

Ouch... Can't mess around with toes. I fractured my big toe once. Took about half a year to heal.

Hoping for a quick recover :D

I took a photo of said broken toe and surrounding terrain, but after viewing said photo, I'm horrified by the looks of my feet and would rather not subject the world to such shock and awe.

I broke my big toe riding (or falling off) my Muni. Here is a video of how it healed.

Going to the same place tomorrow, or today really. Gonna be careful!

Hope yours heals as quick as mine did, or even quicker!

I wish. I am walking much better now. It still burns now and then.

The tow truck joke is good anytime.
