Whoopee! We made it! Ben has graduated from high school. Where has the time gone? We moved to Rochelle when young Bennie was two weeks old (actually closed on our house before he was born). Now he's off to bigger and better things. It was a great ceremony, a time for parents to be proud.

They even graduate from middle school (8th grade) in these here parts. The eight graders wear robes and everything (no square beanies, though).

I guess high school and secondary school are the same thing. It does have its significance because some don't go on to college (or university). So this is the only graduation they'll have. Ben is going on to college in the fall to pursue a degree in computer systems engineering.

In USA, eith graders wear robes?

Here we just wear a shirt on the day that we receive the diplom, and in the party day, we need to wear smokings to dance with all the parents...

A PIC of my eith grade party:

Graduation ceremonys are fun :D After the traditional dance, the DJ plays a lot of cool musics and we dance all the night :D

Our education system is a little different than yours. High school in the UK ends when you are around 16 correct? High school in the U.S. is for "grades" 9-12, and ends when you are around 18.

Note: I attended my high school graduation ceremony, but skipped my college graduation ceremony. I opted to have my diploma mailed to me instead of driving 4 hours back down to Blacksburg to attend the ceremony.

You can leave school when you're 16, or you can stay on until 18 in high school. Many people do the 16 - 18 bit in a sixth form college rather than a school. Still, you don't graduate until you leave university (which less than half the population do), so most people in the Uk never graduate from anything.

Having said that, I'm graduating my MEng on the 26th of september

Robes are used in other social partys and ceremonys?

It's funny because we aren't so distant, and there are a lot of different habits!

Just got home from chilling with a few friends after graduation this afternoon. Had an extended meal at four different houses, ending with a glass of home-made Bailey's and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. :)

I'm a freshman again!!

Probly will have a couple pics up tomorrow.

I am headed to NC State University for mechanical engineering this fall. Not looking forwards to all the math just yet but I am pretty stoked.

Lol no offense, but I can't imagine anyone going into any engineering degree and not looking forward to the math. Maybe that's just me.
