Twelve teams are now registered for Ride the Lobster, Nova Scotia’s 800 km, five-day unicycle marathon June 16-20. Two recent entries are Team Nova Scotia and the Hans Islanders.

Eric Morneau and Steven Plumridge from Cape Breton Island, the "claws of Nova Scotia" join Beth Amiro of Halifax for the competition as team Nova Scotia.

Signe Gjerdling Jensen and Thomas Olsen, of Denmark, have teamed up with Vancouver's Todd Sankey. They are the Hans Islanders. Hans Island is at the heart of a territorial dispute between Denmark and Canada. Both claim the unihabited island located at 80 degrees north, 66 degrees west, a spot between Greenland and Ellsmere island in the high Arctic.

Team Yellow Line Fever, Totally Doable and Yam Power are Californian entries.

Team Venus is an all-female contingent, American Mojo is two Vermonters and a Rhode Islander, and the Korean Dream teams' name speaks for itself.

The United Kingdon is sending three teams: the Goonies, the Lost Wheelers and the Old Peculiers.

Toronto's Team Atlas rounds out the field up until now.

Organizers have learned a Spanish team and another team, from the Phillipines, are in the middle of the qualifying process.

Kris Holm and Florian Schumplf will be attending, but neither will race. Corky Coker's email service has been a little touchy, but we'd still love to have him visit.
