I read somewhere that bike riding ( 3 hours a week or more) can lead to infertility. Its didn't say anything about unicycling, but I would think it would be even worse, right? Especially if your doing muni and jumps and things

no. not true in my oppinion.

Not true with unicycling. Especialy with jumps, you stand up on the pedals to far away from your "stuff" and you have the comfy saddle too...
And there havn't been any cases of infertility from unicycling.

I'm not sure so I'll ask my kids.

Well...the penis doesn't have much to do with a male's 'fertility'.

Anyway. No, this is probably not true.

I don't know what you guys are talking...my unicycle is infertile.

Infertility for men or women? I haven't heard of this. What I have heard of is impotence (men), which can be caused by many hours of riding on a saddle that focuses pressure on the rider's centerline. Lots of bike saddles today have channels down the center, and so do some uni saddles.

There is no documentation on infertility for unicyclists, though I can offer plenty of anecdotal examples of numbness! :)

Im sure it can happen though.

Ever been riding for hours and your crotch goes numb?

Im sure prolonged exposure to that pressure and lack of blood going there can cause problems.

But youd have to be kidna dumb to let yourself go numb down there and not do anything about it.

omg it's her!

hahaha

but anyway, I don't think so.
I haven't heard of anyone having problems like that, and if they did it would probably be pretty well known.

Hey,

Veronicafarren is back . Welcome back I guess...

I'm sure a guy could do damage but I don't see how it could cause infertility...

Nimbusnut

I can prove that it doesn't: Did you ever try to stuff a uni into a wallet? Or get upset when you accidentally look in your daughter's dresser and find out she's on the unicycle? Stop guessing and try using science.

That's all bunk (fake news) IMHO. Fake scare stories by people who want to sell you a new fangled unusual bicycle saddle.

There have been studies but they studied people who ride lots and lots and lots. Those are people who ride with skinny race oriented saddles and was before the days of cutout saddles that are supposed to relieve pressure on the nerves down there.

Don't worry about it. Even on unicycles. If you're concerned then get the new KH Fusion saddle with the cutout down the middle. Nobody here has complained about lasting effects from unicycling that I can recall.

I don't know whats funnier. Uniccyling making you sterile... Or the fact that most of the people commenting on the subject arn't even old enough to have sex. True enough, it's a situation a person should address before it turns into a bigger problem. But can any of you actually say that you are fertile? Can anyone actually say that unicycling makes you sterile based on fact? Has anyone actually gone into the doctor and been tested? I personally have, but it was for circumstances other then unicycling. Now over the long term it could be a different story, but I can honestly say I'm "cool be1ans". All I can say is if you definately don't wanna be sterile, DON'T DO DRUGS!!!

WERD! But you should always where a condom. ALWAYS! And if she picks you up, you better double. Or else you get 3 little q-tips stuck in your knob when you go to get checked out. Soo bad, soo soo bad. Then they tell you that they will call you in a week if you have anything. Makes for a long week.

I know this is a family forum, so I'm gonna stop about now... Done

Also all the scare stories are for males. I haven't heard anything about cycling making females sterile or other lasting problems.

I forgot about Zach's fractured testicle. Do that twice and you'll be sterile.
Skaters manage to get the same injury and they don't have saddles. Therefore I conclude that saddles are not the cause of that injury.

I'm thankful I'm a chick. I wouldn't want to deal with any of that. Cheap sun saddles can hurt women as well, though....

If I choose to get pregnant.

I would certainly hope that it would be you and a suitable partner both choosing to get pregnant. I wouldn't dare to dream, in an age where equality of sexes is on such a high pedestal, that pregnancy and the choice to raise a child could be anything other than a mutual choice.

Right.

Your sarcasm really isn't needed. On top of that, I'm not in a relationship with a "suitable" partner, or any partner for that matter and can choose to abstain from a relationship if I so choose. Also, I don't get off on annoying BS debates about religion, human rights, womens rights, animal rights...etc...

That's ok Alex. People get so upset about stuff here. I'm always expecting another mindless debate on here. I'm also not in the best of moods. Sorry to take it out on this forum. No harm done, though!

nah, its true. Uni'ing DOES cause infertility. That jelly bean i stuck in my ear never even sprouted. man, i want a jelly tree :p The verdict: unicycling causes infrertility of the ear. Case closed until further notice.

According to my penis machenist it's not the nerves that are the cause of concern but the artery to the erector set. He feels that narrow bicycle seats can and do cause an increased incidence of "flat tire" in some instances.
Supposedly there are statistics in the urology literature supporting this allegation, but I've not looked it up personally.

I'm talking about laws. Who am I to say who is and isn't ready to have sex. Especially speaking from a biological view. Besides, the question at hand was about fertility, not the sex itself.
