Hi Guys, I am new to unicycling - I got one for xmas.
Just a quick question about the pumping of tyres - is there a reason I can't get mine rock hard? Are unicycle wheels supposed to be half soft? Or do I have an impotent unicycle?
Cheers,
Ed

If you keep on pumping, it should become rock hard. It might have a slow leek.
Why you would want to make it rock hard, I don't know. Most people run their wheels at around 20+psi depending on their weight. I am 150lbs and run mine at exactly 20psi. The softness of the tire adds suspension, and when compressed, adds bounce for trials lines.

you have to pump it up more than a bike because all your weights on 1 wheel:)

Traditionally bmx style tyres used for freestyle are pumped up to high pressure, the low roling resistance makes spins and other tricks easier.
For mountain and trials riding the tyre is let much lower, around 20 psi, to give it bounce and shock absorbtion to make hops higher and terrain easier.
If it won't get hard regardless of how much you pump it, you've got a puncture somewhere.
