An average, everyday guy wins the heart of a princess and she wants to marry him. Of course, her father (the king) wants his daughter marrying other royalty. There is a big divide among the people of the nation as many people want the princess to marry this working class man and the other half want the princess to marry a prince.
To stay on good terms in the public eye, the King sets up a drawing where the whole town will attend. He is going to put two papers in a hat, one saying YES and one saying NO.
The man wishing to merry the princess finds out ahead of time that both pieces will say NO, meaning that there is a 0% chance of him being able to marry the princess.
The man goes through with the drawing as planned, and got the okay to marry the daughter.
What did he do at the drawing that made it 100% chance of him getting to marry the daughter?
