How do you say "Crayon"?

1. c r a y - o n ( So like clay-on but instead of an L a R )

2. c r e - o n ( So like pre-on but instead of P a C )

When I was little I used to cringe when my classmates pronounced it like "crown".

I say it like it's spelled.

CRAY-yon

CRAY rhymes with day.

And yon is like the yon in beyond.

I think it's more like Cray-Yawn.

Are you talking about regular or unleaded Crayons?

2. c r e - o n ( So like pre-on but instead of P a C )

So "c r e - o n" rhymes with "freon"?
Does anyone pronounce it that way? Must be a Canadian thing.

Cran.

so the second one?

No, like the first one only a little shorter.

When I'm not thinking about it, I pronounce it about that way too, kind of like "Crayn" with the "o" shortened or gone...

But for this thread, yeah, I say Cray-on.

Cre-on sounds like cran? You're weird. lol

Cre-on to me sounds/pronounces like freon (free-on). While when I say crayon, I say it like the cran in cranberry. The y and o become very slight, or not there at all.

round here most people pronounce it cray-un sort of. the u in that definitely sounds a bit like a o too, but the closest i could spell the pronunciation is cray-un.
