I'm in the same boat. I just recently learned to crank idle but I'm unable to transition into or out of the skill yet. All in time. It's the transitions into and out of some skills that can be more difficult than the skill itself.

Anyone have any tips on how to crank idle? I can transition into it but can get only about 3/4 of an idle before messing up. Haven't had the opertunity to try to transition out yet.

A few tips I've learned recently are to keep your idle short and fast, don't let it sweep waaaay out like you would in a normal idle and keep the majority of your weight on the pedal and not the crank, this should force the seat against your hip and allow you to control the unicycle while idling. Got any tips for transitioning into crank idling?

Thanks. Spencer also told me to hold a wall while learning. I forgot about that idea; I can't remember the last time I used it...

For transition into it I put my front foot on the crank and then move my backfoot behind the seat over the front crank. Then very fast I move my front foot onto the pedal and drop my backfoot onto the crank.
It is a little hard but once you understand how to do it it just gets easy. I have about 85% consistancy with it now.

thanks, I understand what you're saying about the transition now. I'm gonna work on it today a bit.
