You shouldn't need to go to that much work. I got a long post from Tom Miller at

I'm also interested in finding out where one can find seat posts. There's a
practically-unused (Only used by ppl testing it at the store) Schwinn at the
local Schwinn store. It has two strikes against it, though. One: It's too
expensive. I'm not sure I want to shell out $150 right now. Two: The seat post
is way too short. I'd think for a 24" uni, they'd have posts that were long
enough for an average person... It has some great advantages, though. For one
thing, it's a Schwinn. Means a lot in my book. For another, It makes my Schwinn
feel like a lead weight compared to this one. It's really light! Anyway... I'm
not willing to buy it unless I can get another seat post relatively
inexpensively.

I'd also be interested in finding out more about hand-tightened adjustable seat
clamps, and whether they can be put on Schwinns.

$150 is real money, but you get good value for it. Schwinn unicycles last
forever. I have two Schwinn's from the 70's, and they still work fine.

I bought a tall seat post from Tom Miller at the Unicycle Factory for about $15.
He has various sizes.
