Why doesnt anyone use it? It seems like it would prevent alot of the usless posts and everything.. :confused:

I'd use it. It's not working for me right now though. It has been loading for the last 4 minutes and nothing more than loading.

Really? so I was in there at like 2:20? That's interesting because I was in there talking to unidudedx earlier on my laptop and it crashed. Guess it kept me logged in while me computer wasn't even running. Nothing intentional. I gotta head out soon but I'll be in there later tonight if anyone else wants to chat...

For those who don't use IRC...
Step 1: Get an IRC client.
I use ChatZilla (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16), an add-on for Firefox. Others may want to use something like mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/).

Step 2: Once you have set up the client, connect to the server by typing "/server irc.servercentral.net" in the command line.
This will connect you to a place where you can open many channels.

Step 3: type "/join #unitalk"
This will take you to the uni chatroom.

There are a number of commands (http://www.ircbeginner.com/ircinfo/ircc-commands.html) you may want to know when you begin.

IRC has been around for many years and it is still one of the best ways to make a chatroom.
If people log on to it any time they go on their computer, it's the best way to ensure that there will be someone to talk to. Granted, people may not want to log on every single time, but if you do log on, stay connected for a while to see if others will join.
I think it's a good way to chat in real-time (more or less) and have another type of community aside from just the forums... Not that there is anything wrong with them.

I've tried multiple times top visit #unitalk but never seem to find anyone there. Being a bit of an IRC addict, I've created #Unis on the wyldryde servers.

You can access it via this link (http://rantz.phreacs.com.au/2008/03/unis-chat-room.html) or just point your IRC client to any of the wyldryde servers (http://www.wyldryde.org/servers/) and then enter #Unis. Never mind the date on the post - I just back-dated it such that it's not always on the front page of my blog.

I tend to be there most mornings (20:30 GMT) and evenings (08:30 GMT) my time.

Just reg'd on here too and gonna get my first uni hopefully tomorrow, although I won't be able to ride it for a while as I recently tore 2 ligaments in my ankle http://www.the-kid.org/images/smilies/cry.gif but the more I see youtubes and read little snippets on unicycling the more I need to get into this!
