To all of those experiencing delays in the processing of their USA membeship, I
apologize. As John Foss mentioned in his note, the problem is probably related
to the delay of the publication of On One Wheel. This is the new editor's first
issue, and like everyone else who tackles a new project, she has found it more
time consuming than expected. I'm confident she will produce a high quality
product in a timely fashion. In the meantime, I think we should cut her some
slack on this first issue.
As several writers have noted, we are an all volunteer organization (who have
real jobs as well!) and we are spread out geographically. As a result, it
sometimes takes a while for correspondence to get routed to the correct officer
and then to be processed. For example, correspondence addressed to the USA
office in Redford, MI doesn't reach me as USA secretary in Ohio for at least a
couple of weeks. This is because your letters are forwarded to me in packets of
5-10 from Redford rather than having each one forwarded individually. This saves
the Redford office both time and money, although it certainly delays the
processing of your requests. Still, I think USA does a fairly efficient job of
dealing with various inquiries most of the time. All of the officers are
conscientious workers who are doing their best to promote unicycling.
Unfortunately, we sometimes make mistakes and I'm sorry that some of you are
victimized by our human failings.
On behalf of USA, I apologize for the delay that some of you have been
experiecing in receiving membership materials, and trust that you will be
receiving these in short order. In the meantime, please let me know if the
organization can provide you with any information.
