View Full Version : The Official Please Don't Leave Thread.

It's come to my attention that the much loved member of our humble family, Terry (AKA MuniAddict), has announced that he is indefinitely quitting the forums. While we all often have personal disagreements its always a shame to see one of us leave - especially one with such prolific contributions to the community.
This thread I'd like to dedicate to expressing the appreciation you may have for Terry, or anyone else in our tight knit community for that matter. Once again, we are a family here and we need each others support even if we can't always agree on points. Terry, please don't leave!
We don't need any hate in here - theres already enough of that in the world so please leave it out.

Why is he leaving? Im guessing the hate thing within the forums?
Anyway please dont leave.

That and I'm sure some personal reasons, but thats why we need to support each other because while we may know whats going on amongst each other here on the forums we have no clue whats happening in each other's home lives. We all have our own hardships we are trying to overcome.
Take a sabbatical if you must MuniAddict, it would really be great to still have you regularly posting to this forum.

Aww, common terry you know you don't really want to leave. Your like the official "cool old guy" here doing all that crazy stuff on you coker and muni. I mean who else has done a 4ft drop (almost) on a coker?! It would be a shame to have somebody like you who has contributed so much to leave. Your also a great inspiration to many here especially the older folk.

Yeah, man.
Please, man, if you wanna take a break that's sweet. I've done that a couple times and it lets you chill out and stuff but you're one of my favorite members here.
There'd be a lot missing if you left.

Indeed. Maybe instead of committing all the way you can just have a "trial separation". Then switch to a "trials separation". Then video the trials, featuring drops of new record height. Then post the video, and voila, you're back. :)

I guess it's a bit late to request you not leave since it looks like you closed your account but, I just want to say this.... You were great inspiration to me and I'm sure to many other's here.(I haven't read thru the thread yet to see what other's have said but I'm going to assume this has already been said many times) It's probably a good thing for everyone to do taking a break for a while, but your videos, advice and encouraging words will be sorely missed by me and the rest of us. When someone leaves this community it almost seems to me like the whole group goes into a state of mourning, it's almost like someone died. So DON'T DIE TERRY WE ALL LOVE YOU!!!! with that said, I should start making some 'extreme coker' videos now that I don't have competition. I doubt they'll be as entertaining as yours but I'll try....

I may not be on here much, and I may not know Terry at all, but I know he plays a big part in this community, and means a lot to everyone on here, and I'd still like to put in my two cents. Please Don't Leave Terry!!!!!

I've been in contact with Terry tonight and he sends all his best wishes to everyone. As I suspected it's not just whats been happening on the forums but also personal issues which have caused Terry to decide to take a break. He hasn't deleted his account nor does he plan to. UniGeezer will most certainly be back - but after some time to reflect. No worries though, he is okay and knows we love him. :)

Glad to know he's OK, thanks for the update Brian. Like others have said, Terry is an inspiring rider and a great showman. In addition to giving me the hope that at 37 I could learn to ride somewhat like he does after alot more practice of course, he even gave me the idea of checking out becoming a Registered Piano Tech. (currently an engineer but play the piano and would love to be home more often).

Terry,
I just left one of my favorite forums that I posted on regularly for personal reasons and I don't intend on going back. This is now my internet home community. I would not have left it if I had such awesome friends, such as those posting on this thread, pleading for me not to go.
I have seen you bring life to many discussions that I have seen in my short time here. You have been inspiring to me, a beginner unicyclist, and I can honestly say that your videos, your comments, and suggestions help and inspire not only me, but everyone else in our sport who reads them.
Reading Brian's post, I want to say that taking a break for a while is probably a good way to sit back and sort out things that need to be sorted.
We don't want you to leave us. Please come back whenever you have things sorted out.

While that's a perfectly legitimate sentiment, Greg dear, perhaps you meant to say "don't let the screen door hit you on the butt..."?
Given Terry's (relatively) short history of ultra-gregarious posting, it would certainly seem appropriate that the forum hit him somewhere on his way out the door. Just trying to ensure we're clear on the specifics.

My angelic mentor-
In my effort to bring some levity to an otherwise somber thread I rushed through the composition and failed to proof read my work. My most sincere apologies for the embarrassing regression.

...so, you went looking for attention by telling everyone you were leaving, and since you received little response, you left?
One wouldn't announce his departure if he wasn't looking for some sort of response.
You can run away from a situation but you can't run away from the cause, if that cause is inside you.
I hope Terry finds peace within himself.

I wasn't really looking for the attention. I was going to leave anyway and was saying goodbye. I may not have left if others really didn't want to leave. Even people whom I thought were my closest friends IRL didn't have any real problem with me going and made fun of my leaving.
Basically, it was a tight little community, and I didn't want them to be all "where'd Core go?"

Hi everybody! this thread was brought to my attention through PM's from many members, namely Brian O., who started the thread. I want to express my heartfelt apprecition and say that I was overwhelmed and humbled by all the kind and wonderful comments.
I had made a small mention in my last video post that I was taking a leave for an indefinite time. I didn't know how long "indefinite" would be. I really needed (still do) time to reflect and mostly to attend to some pressing family issues.
My Dad, who's 86 now, just got out of the hospital after 2 weeks, suffering from internal bleeding; he's not doing very well. He has been falling a lot even though he uses a walker, (but not every time! he wants to walk unattended) and just yesterday while crossing the living room, he stumbled and fell straight over landing directly on his chest and face.
None of us were close enough to catch him it happened so fast and we were all on the other side of the room! Both my Dad and older sister have cars, but can no longer drive, so that's another problem we have to sort out.
My older sister had moved in with him after my Mother passed away and then my sister has since had a major stroke that has left her with speech and balance difficulties. The Doctors believe that the brain tumor that they removed from her brain stem years ago contributed to the stroke. Then, another terrible blow; my sister's long time boy friend died of a massive heart attack (just this past week), and left her devastated with grief. He was a very kind and gentle man and we all adored him.
So this past weekend my younger sister and my oldest brother flew in from the east coast (to LA) to visit my dad and sister, and also to talk about putting plans in place for when either one of them can no longer care for themselves. Unfortunately that may be very soon.
There was also some dissent over "power of attorney", but that was cleared up. So this is a real crossroads in our lives and I'm trying my best to deal with it and be there for my family. It has been very emotionally draining, as it has been now for at least 2 years, but it's rapidly becoming a situation that can go from bad to worse in a heartbeat.
Speaking of "family", I have come to feel like this community of such great people have become my extended family, and although I have not met most of you in person, I definitely feel a special kinship with all of you.
I just wanted you all to know how grateful and happy I felt to read all your warm and supportive comments, and I want to continue to participate in the forums. But my main goal here is to share in my love of unicycling with all of you, and not to be the cause arguments, or be controversial.
I know I've been defensive and made some comments I wish I could delete, but that's in the past and I just want to focus on the positive and continue to be part of this great community.
I realize that many of you probably have worse events that have happened or are happening in your lives, so I know that I am not the only one going through tough times. I feel for those who are in a similar situation, and hope everything will be ok.
Thanks everybody!:)

You have made your case pretty clear though Terry. It really makes sense that you don't have time for us now.

I have been reading this forum, but for soemreason i just haven't posted in it yet. If you do still even read the froums once and a while, and you see this thread, i'd just like to say that your videos were awesome, and that me talking about you to my dad i think had a big impact on him wanting to learn. So thank you for all of the good you have done for our community, and good luck with further ventures. Remember always... Your unicycle love's you.;)
