Celebrate OctoBEARD

The rules are simple. Start the month with a clean shaven face, do not shave for the entire month of October.

Spread the word! :):)

This is a video I made of my friend for fun. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=p7lkiwCivE8)

October is too early for the annual fall growth. I used to start at Labor Day but it's no fun when the weather is not cold yet. Can we do Novembeard?

Brian, you're such a troll. Good work.

I can't grow a decent beard in a month...

I haven't shaved in about 5 weeks... and my beard is barely noticeable, and my hair is like 10mm long.

Chexjc
2007-10-02, 05:40 PM
I don't think the clean shaven face is a necessity, just that you don't shave for the month.

At then end of the month I'll only look very scruffy.

What a beast! If it weren't for the fact that my girlfriend would never speak to me again if I grew a beard I'd certainly join you in the beards for christ movement. ;)

if i could grow a beard that's worth a damn, i'd be in. i prefer the made up facial hair holiday of "cinco de mustache" where you don't shave for most of april and go out with all your mustachiod friends on may 5th.

I would defently join in if I could grow a decent beard. One time I didn't shave for a week and a half and it just looked really dirty because some parts are dark and other parts are white.

I've got a rough, scruffy look going on. Not too bad though, I don't think my girlfriend will begin complaining for another week or so. The early stages of the stache are setting in however. I wonder if you're allowed to shave the stache...

Is that anything like octothorpe?

...Is octothorpe the number sign? (#)

Hazmat

Definition of octothorpe:

oc·to·thorpe - [Alteration (influenced by octo-) of earlier octalthorpe, the pound key, probably humorous blend of octal, an eight-point pin used in electronic connections (from the eight points of the symbol) and the name of James Edward Oglethorpe.]

My girlfriend wants me to shave when she comes over this Tuesday. Dialog went like this:

Sera: I want to come over Tuesday.
Me: Ok, that sounds good.
Sera: WIll you shave?
Me: Will it be worth it?
Sera: Yes.

Octobeard is very likely to get cut short this year. lol

Yeah, i'm in for Octobeard this year too. I think i'm just going to hold out on shaving until the Sox win the World Series. I might have to participate in No Shave Nov. we'll see. Maybe after two months i'll actually have a decent beard. Probably not, though...

144 beards would be really gross.

I'm starting my NovemBeard, see how much more grey show up this year and how much I can stand before I shave it off. Tradition says I should ski at least once with it before it goes. Here's hoping for an early winter.

Steve,

Don't consider it grey, call it chrome. Being compared to a muscle car sounds way more cool than being compared to a broken-down primered Rambler.

Will do, but this Muscle Car is also getting some loose linkage in the tie rods.

October is just too soon for the Fall beard growth. I used to start my beard at Labor Day but got tired of it way before the snows flew; should be Novembeard, just in time for the snow ski season.

As for Movember, I went 30 years with every month being Movember until last February. Now the wife and kids don't want it back.
