View Full Version : Wow, something killed this foal.. what do you think?

(you may find the image in the link disturbing.. just thought i would warn you)

I heard about this on the radio this morning. (http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2007/09/15/6869_news.html) I am kind of worried as i am about to set off backpacking around Australia.. We will be spending some time in a tent.

What do you think was the cause? are largest predetors around here are pretty much dogs and lizards, or a kangaroo. maybe it was some wildmens :) or a 'big cat'.

Or maybe the foal had a mental condition so the mother horse, not wanting such a child, killed it and arranged it so as to pass the buck to someone else.

We used to have a big cat round my way when i was a child, farmers regularly found sheep's throats and spines, the animal haivng consumed the bones and skull. My brother and I saw it in the garden once, a black cat around 6 feet long, probably a puma i guess.

Myabe this incident caused me to listen to satanic music, rather than the other way round.

That spine looks like the work of the Predator. The cats just found the carcass and cleaned things up afterwards.

It is kind of worrying though because we will be camping there in the bush, thats if we find new tent.

thats messed up

and a mountain lion coulda done that easily. the only one i have seen could have anyways, it was standing on a dirt road, front paws on one track, back paws on the other

No. I thought it was pretty funny too. Made me think it was some sort of joke or hoax or something. But... big cats in Australia? WTF?
